African violets can regrow from a single leaf so it should be fine just keep the trimmings and grow some more . The worst you can do to a af violet is over water it .

Does anyone know where can I get an ultra violet flashlight???

Could use one in the line of work I do.

Does anyone know where can I get an ultra violet flashlight???
Why, are you hunting vampires or something?
Reply:Your best option is to get a dark red filter or a green filter. The military uses those lights because they are NVG compatible and don't wreck your night vision. As for pure infrared light, that's a bit harder to find. IR glowsticks are availible from the more high end military and cop shops, however their purchase is usually restricted.

A small little light can be found here:

Or if you want to convert a regular flashlight to IR only:

Hope that helps.

What colour parents do i need to breed a violet budgie?

This website will help you understand more about the genetics and color mutations of budgies: http://www.budgieplace.com/colors.html

Details about violet factor can be found here: http://www.budgieplace.com/c_violet.html

And beautiful photos illustrating the color mutations can be found here: http://www.budgieplace.com/colorsguide.h...

What colour parents do i need to breed a violet budgie?
Its very very hard. So hard id take to long to explain. Hire some books from the library and read and then youll understand what i mean. It mutaion after mutation, pied, albino, lutino, sky blue etc. IT TAKES A LOT. It is possible for two blue birds with violot parents (both) to throw off violet chicks but the chicks wouldnt have that mutation stong enough in them to continue the process....se my point...confusing hey. Anyway hope that helped.
Reply:Budgies are fun to breed. You never know really what you may come up with.

Try to get a bird with a history of violet in it's genes. Then try a light wing blue with it.

When you are successful keep the female/male violet to maturity and breed it back to it's mother or father.

This is called line breeding.

Meanwhile you want to keep another from the nest and breed it to another light wing blue from another source.

This will strengthen the genes when you put the babies back to the first nest adults.

From there you keep the line breeding going always breeding out to another violet line and the line breeding again to keep the size of the bird and also keep them healthy.

It is very interesting to see what you may get.

Happy breeding.

Where do I buy biological dyes such as crystal violet or methylene blue?

I just bought a new microscope, and am really eager to start observing - ! But I don't know where to buy the dyes necessary for observation of certain cellular structures, as well as the alcohols and other useful substances. Is there a store somewhere that specifically sells them - or do I have to order online or through a catalog? I'm also looking for a fairly cheap option here... and I won't be needing big quantities of the stuff, so buying in bulk is not on my mind.

Where do I buy biological dyes such as crystal violet or methylene blue?
go to supply sites like fisher scientific. they have a lot of the stuff you want. you can save money by looking at how the dyes are constituted and making them yourself
Reply:If you are still in school, perhaps approach a professor who may provide you with some or at least tell you where to get some. I was able to purchase all of my microscope accessories (scalpels, probes, dyes, slides/covers, eye droppers, etc.) in a kit at a little hobby store for a very reasonable price (%26lt;$20).
Reply:Ebay is one option. I just looked and there is a general staining kit available at http://cgi.ebay.com/Vital-Stain-Kit-6-Di...

Another option is this company, but the quantity might be more than you want: http://www.emsdiasum.com/microscopy/prod...

My best guess is that Violet is fifteen and Klaus is 13. That is the only book I don't actually have in the series.

A single nucleotide within a gene is changed by ultra-violet radiation exposure but the resulting protein is still function. This is called ___________.

a) a transposon event

b) a point mutation

c) a frameshift mutation

d) a carcinogenic event

A single nucleotide within a gene is changed by ultra-violet radiation exposure but the resulting protein.....
Lil Butterfly,

The answer is “B” - point mutation, which is a mutation confined to a single nucleotide - known as a single nucleotide base change in the DNA. A point mutation may consist of the loss of a nucleotide, the insertion of an additional nucleotide, or the substitution of one nucleotide for another.

Hope this helps

The fact that the protein still functions is irrelevant. The important thing is that a SINGLE nucleotide was changed. That is the definition of a point mutation.

Yes, violet is a shade of purple.

Are purple and violet in the same family of colors?
Yes. Purple is usually deeper in the blue spectrum; violet tends to have more red in it.

People supposedly have 'violet' eyes-does anyone really have them?
Yes they do. It happens when someone with blue eyes has a harmless kind of condition in their iris that causes the blood in them to be more visible (or something like that). That gives them the violet color. Very rare Report It

What about Violette or Violet for a little girl?

hi i want to call baby Violet if it s a girl . what do you think of it as a name. are there many out there. also , sould i call it Violette , or Violet

What about Violette or Violet for a little girl?
Beautiful. I like the Violette spelling. Jennifer Garner and Ben Afflack named their daughter Violet.
Reply:The name Violet is really starting to grow on me. It's a good choice. But, I would spell it Violet.
Reply:I had considered that name when I was pregnant with my first daughter. Very pretty. I would spell it Violet.
Reply:Stick with Violet, its a nice name
Reply:I love Violet. It is soft and pretty and girly. old-fashioned and new, too.
Reply:I work in a shop and a woman was shouting her little back to her the other day... Violet... Violet...

I love the way it looks on paper but it doesnt roll off the tongue easily... The more she shouted and the angrier she got it sounded very close to violence!

Not the best association...
Reply:Out of the two i like Violette better but, another cute name would be Violetta :)
Reply:I like it spelled Violet
Reply:i like violets beautiful and its perfect for a lil girl
Reply:First, I'd stick with Violet. Adding on an extra "te" is pointless, and makes the name fussier, not better.

As for whether or not it is too popular, that's tough to say. It is reasonably uncommon right now - it was #261 in 2006. BUT it leapt up from #372 the year before, and #588 the year before that. I think Violet is the kind of name that *will* be hot by 2010. And by hot, I mean relatively common.

Names that gain like that - hopping up more than 100 places in a year - often end up being super-popular. For example, Ava went from 350 to 259 to 180, between 1998 and 2000. Isabella climbed from 699 to 487 to 319 to 222 between 1991 and 1994.

So while Violet may remain relatively rare, it strikes me as a name poised to gain rapidly. If your daughter is born this year, it might not matter. But in two years, or three? Better keep an eye on it.
Reply:I think this is a very pretty name for a baby girl. And as she grows up, she will have the most beautiful name in the world.

As for the spelling. It depends on how you want to say it. With the accent on the Vio or the ette. I prefer Violet.
Reply:I would spell it Violette. I think its pretty!!!!
Reply:I absolutely love the name Violet, but as a middle name. Violet is a little too old-fashioned to go as a first name. The only Violet I know is the Violet from A Series Of Unfortunate Events, and that book takes place in the past. Also, the name Violet would be a little out-of-place in a school.
Reply:I guess it all depends on how you're going to pronounce it - Vie-o-let / Vie-let (Violet) or V-O-let (Violette).
Reply:I would definitely go with Violet and I think it's a very sweet name.
Reply:Violet is lovely. I'd stick to Violet, Violette is a bit pretentious if the baby has no French roots.
Reply:i like jade
Reply:Violet. It's the traditional spelling.
Reply:Violette!
Reply:ive never met anyone with that name, i think it is cute, i would spell it Violet.
Reply:If you mean Violet like the color spell it that way. I like it. Don't change spelling to Violette if you mean Violet.
Reply:Violet -I love it. Very pretty and only 1 on Coronation Street, I know of none in real life.
Reply:Violet. The extra letters just look odd to me. I like Violet because it's a simple, sweet floral name. I think it can sound really cheesy really easily though, so I personally prefer Viola just a bit. However, I still think Violet is a great name.
Reply:Violette ................. nice!
Reply:i think it is pretty. either way you spell it is pretty. but if you spell it violette, people might say it: V-O-let instead of vi-o-let. (if you can understand that!) but i love the spelling violette. so either way is great. sorry, i know this answer is confusing!

Is 390 nm ultra violet light safe?

i know that you should never look a UV light in the eye but what about just average club-going, rave, and partying? is there a limit to how long i should be exposed to those kinds of lights?

Is 390 nm ultra violet light safe?
Ignore the wavelength for a second and ask yourself, does the term Ultra-Violet seem safe to me, knowing what I know about that type of EM radiation? The answer is a resounding, no. Any type of exposure to UV light is not 'good' for you, as it has a higher energy than Visible light (due to its shorter wavelength, and thus higher frequency). That means these rays can deposit more energy into your body's cells, killing them easily.

To answer the second part of your question, you wouldn't at all see this UV light, so it makes it useless at a club, unless the club wanted to fry all of its party-goers. As for the limit, I can't really say anything but try not to get intentionally exposed to it as much as possible. Sunlight is necessary as you need Vitamin D, but UV radiation can eventually cause skin cancer. You decide.

I would like to know why certain colors cannot be seen by humans, in an ultra violet and infrared?

this is for my reseach for college.

I would like to know why certain colors cannot be seen by humans, in an ultra violet and infrared?
We don't have the biological mechanisms within our eyes that respond to electromagnetic energy in those wavelengths.

See here for a more indepth discussion:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye
Reply:It's because our genetic make-up has eyes that pick up on the visible part of the spectrum only.Ultra violet(beyond violet) and Infrared(below red)...tom science
Reply:The rods and cones in our eyes aren't adapted to it, because we've never needed to see those colors.

Insects do because that's how they recognize flowers (and in a symbiotic turn, it's how flowers attract the right insects). But we don't suck on flower sperm to keep ourselves alive, we just need to see a lion in the dark (rods), or discern certain animals from the surroundings by color (cones).
Reply:Because the eye does not contain photoreceptors which are sensitive to radiation of these wavelengths. The normal eye has three different photoreceptors sensitive to wavelengths in the range of 400 to 780 nanometers, more or less; one is more sensitive to shorter wavelengths, one to intermediate wavelengths, and one to longer wavelengths. Evolution picked these particular wavelengths because the sun's radiation is maximal for them.
Reply:The retina contains two types of photoreceptors: rods and cones. The rods are more numerous more sensitive to light than cones; however, the eye's color perception comes from the cones. There are approximately 120 million rods and 6-7 million cone photoreceptors.

There are three types of color-sensitive cones in the retina of the human eye, corresponding roughly to red, green, and blue sensitive detectors. Humans don't have UV or IR photodetectors. Why? That is just the way we evolved. Seeing UV or IR was less important than being able to see red, green and blue. UV perception might be more important to insects that need to distinquish among various flowers; and IR reception might be more important to snakes and other animals that hunt burrowing warm-blooded mammals at night.
Reply:very good question. i would like to know that too!
Reply:Is this a math question? Then the answer is because 2+2 = 4.
Reply:If there is no visible light along with IR %26amp; UV rays we would see nothing i.e. it would be pitch black

Using Gentian Violet to heal thrush? Has it worked?

Has anyone used the Gentian Violet to heal a mild case of thrush in the babies mouth and on the nipple? My son has a very mild case and we were prescribed Nystatin, but it didn't help at all. I've now contracted the thrush on my right nipple and breastfeeding is extremely painful. I'm not going to stop, but I need to know if the Gentian Violet is helpful and if anyone has used it before to heal thrush...has it worked? Thanks.

Using Gentian Violet to heal thrush? Has it worked?
I've used Genetian Violet to heal thrush in all 4 of my children. Make sure that as you treat the baby, you're treating anything else the baby touches... especially your nipples. Change nursing pads and your bra often. Take your nursing bras outside and let them hang out in the sun for a little while. The UV rays are great for getting rid of yeast. Make sure if baby has a pacifier you switch it out for a new one, or sterilize the one you've got. I've always used the GV a couple of days after I stopped noticing the symptoms of thrush just in case anything was left.

Reply:I have tried everything for thrush! LOL.The gentian violet didn't help at all and wasn't worth the mess.I wish I could tell you what does work but I am still figuring that out myself! Good luck....I feel your pain.I've had it for 2 months now.
Reply:Hi there!

I'm sorry to hear about the thrush. It can be a problem since it can be passed back and forth ( as you know!) . This medication is an older one , used before Nystatin. It's safe but if you find that it's still not doing the trick, you may need to contact your doctor and ask for Nystatin in a stronger concentration. You may need to continue the Nystatin for your baby if you notice the Thrush on his mouth and lips. You may notice that your baby's eating starts to go down ( Thrush on the tongue feels like a burning sensation when eating). Be sure to follow up if that should happen.

Hope you are both on the mend soon!

My mother gave me a african violet last year. Its very healthy looking but hasnt bloomed since. What can i do?

I have grown many African Violets. I have learned several things about them. One is they don't like water, treat them like cacti. Water them when the soil is dry to the touch. Then water only enough to let the water run through once. The violet's pot should be in a saucer. The pot should be made of plastic or glass; not Terra Cotta. They do not like Terra Cotta pots. Also, when you planted the violet, you should have put a wick in. A wick can be made of a old rag. The material should be something that soaks up water such as cotton. You should have 2 inch wick. Half of this should be put inside the pot and the other half remains outside. It will be in the saucer when the violet is planted. After inserting 1 inch of the wick, then plant the violet. Do not ever use potting soil. It is too dry. Use either topsoil or dirt from your yard. There is something in potting soil that turns dry and hard as it ages and the violet cannot get water even though you water it. If this continues, the violet will die. After you plant the violet, take the planted violet and put it in a saucer. Then water it until the water runs through into and starts coming into the saucer. Then stop. After this, find a place to put the violet. The violet likes indirect light; it does not like direct light. If you have a windows where the light shines a good part of the day, put it in front on that window. Don't put it too close though such as putting it right up next to the window because it could be burned from the heat that it reflected from the glass. I know this sounds impossible, but I have seen it happen. After you have put the violet in it's place, check the soil every week by placing your finger on top of it and if it feels dry to you, water the violet. If not, or if you see water in the saucer do not water the violet. The wick will take up the water to the violet. You might try putting the water in the saucer if your violet needs water, because the wick will absorb this water and carry it up and inside the pot to the roots of the violet. Fertilize your violet once a month with an African Violet fertilizer. There is such a thing. A garden supply store will know what you're talking about. Go and ask them.

My mother gave me a african violet last year. Its very healthy looking but hasnt bloomed since. What can i do?
I can tell you way with out all the things other people have said, not to say they are wrong but my method works,

I read it in the libary 10000 gardening questions i think that was title ,anyways thing about violets that they like to be stessed ,meaning they like to be root bound ,dont transplant a violet an think its going to bloom, thats why you see them in stores in little pots, however you can transplant them to make them bigger but it ordered for it to bloom again it will have to be root bound ,and the water thing ,well I water mine about once a week or every two week .I grew mine from a single leaf and it took almost three years ,thats because i put it in a bigger pot.now it blooms about every six weeks, and this time the colors are reallly dark purple.so have fun
Reply:Site 1: From plantanswers.com

"The most common cause of the African Violet not flowering is insufficient light. Since your plant has normal, healthy foliage I suspect that this is your problem"

Site 2: African Voilet Care
Reply:Most Plants flower to propogate... When a plant is very healthy it seems to decide that it doesn't need to propogate and in doing so it doesn't flower or produce a fruit/seed very often. Maybe you are looking after it too well and it needs a little shock.. Try giving it and extra few days before you water it... maybe dig around the roots a little or add a different fertilizer than what you normally give it... Give it a little taste of sunshine each day...

I found this on a web page...

A Silly Tip

Occasionally a grower is doing everything well, and a violet will still stubbornly remain out of bloom while developing beautiful leaves. Botanists would say that it is in a vegetative mode. In order to switch it to a fruiting (flowering) mode, the plant needs a gentle threat that will trigger a “survival of the species” response. Squeezing the sides of the pot or gently thumping the pot on the table surface will disturb roots enough to trigger a panic response, often causing the violet to begin setting flowers. It sounds silly, but there is good science to support this action.

Why do violet light wavelengths have the most energy...?

out of red, yellow, green, and violet wavelengths?

Why do violet light wavelengths have the most energy...?
As the energy that a wave of light possesses increases, so does its frequency. So higher energy light waves have higher frequencies than lower energy light waves. The range of light which is visible to us is laid out from lowest frequency to highest (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) with other forms of electromagnetic radiation being above (x-rays and gamma rays) and below (radio waves and microwaves). This is all to say that light doesn't have more energy because it is violet, but that light is violet because it has more energy.
Reply:The formula for energy is

E = hν = hc/λ, where

h = Planck's constant

c = speed of light

λ = wavelength of light.

Because violet has the SHORTEST wavelength (smallest wavelength), if you plug that into the formula, a small denominator corresponds to a large energy as an answer. The opposite side of the spectrum has the lowest energy.

[Answer: see above]
Reply:because its closer to gamma rays

Would it be too much to name your daughers Scarlett and Violet?

I'd likely avoid it. While I love both names, they share not only the colorful link but also the similar "et" ending sounds, so coming across as a bit overly matchy. At least something like Charlotte and Violet would avoid the color connection, or Ruby and Violet the similar sound, if you follow. Or even Scarlett and Viola, to avoid both the literal "word" association AND "et" endings! ;) Just a thought.

Reply:yehh its your choice! i like both names they are very pretty. its not like you are asking if apple and peach is too full on. yes then it would be! haha. but Scarlett and Violet is nice, GO FOR IT!
Reply:No, I reckon they are lovely names!
Reply:I think it is, unfortunately. You're steering down a scary path towards theme names, which is a generally tacky and scary place.

Instead of Scarlett, you could use Charlotte, so you could have Charlotte and Violet, which are still great names, but not so matchy. If Scarlett's your absolute favorite, how about Viola instead of Violet? Again, Scarlett and Viola still sound nice together without being silly and matching.

Hope this helps!
Reply:I think they are both pretty names (I esp. like Scarlett). Go for it! Are they twins?
Reply:I don't think it would be too much. They aren't very "severe" sounding names. To me they remind me of sweet little southern bells :) Go for it! It's your choice anyway, don't let someone steer you away from what you like!
Reply:They are pretty names. If you like them that's all that matters. I personally prefer scarlett over violet though.
Reply:I think they're lovely names, but I don't think it suits twins, if that's why you're asking.
Reply:I would say that would be inadvisable. You have to think about how they will feel about it when they get older.
Reply:Never, they are beautiful names. As a mommy you reserve the right for names anyway... but if you need a confidence boost... i thinkthey are lovely... and they will look beautiful written. :) I think that she will be proud of the name as she grows.

Fruit flys on africn violet why?

Over-watering and poor drainage can result in a buildup of fungus gnats. Allowing the soil to dry as much as possible, without injury to the plant, is effective in killing many of the larvae. Remove all dead plant debris that may collect on the surface of the soil.

My printer is printing violet instead of sky blue, which colour toner needs replacing?

replace cyan. printer tries to print blue en since no more cyan, it replaces by mixing the magenta and yellow.

Dying hair violet (bleaching necessary) advice?

I've been wanting to dye my hair violet for some time now and any advice on products and steps are appreciated. My main outlet for any color would be from Sallys, I have thick and wavy hair, and I already have 2 bottles of Clairols Complements in violet (sale so I couldn't pass it up) and I have reddish roots and dark brown hair thats shoulder length. Thanks to anyone who gave their time to read this =d

Dying hair violet (bleaching necessary) advice?
Since you already know you have to bleach your hair I'd advise don't do it yourself, go get it done because you can majorly f*** up your hair. From what I've noticed if you wan't your hair a nice Violet use Special Effects Joyride or Special Effects Purple Smoke, if your Sallys is a pain in the a** like mine and doesen't sell Special Effects then you could most likely find it at Hot Topic, or you can use Manic Panic Ultra Violet mixed with a little bit of the Virgin Snow. But my all time favorite is the Punky Violet, the color is gorgeous!
Reply:I died my bangs red-violet and they turned out nice. I went to a hair coloriest though. All I can say is read the instructions on the box. One time I used the boxes color and then a month later went to the colorist and they reacted. So, you might want to be carful if you mix or use two different kinds. Hope this helps in any way

Why does the color violet at the far end of the blue spectrum look like it has red in it.?

We see color through red, green and blue filters on the cones of our eyes do the red cones let through some of the deep blue color to create the redish tint of violet?

Why does the color violet at the far end of the blue spectrum look like it has red in it.?
Vilet is made by 2 parts of red + one part of blue
Reply:Violet is made up of blue and red.
Reply:that is more of an art question than anything else...violet is blue and red it just emits the largest frequency on the electromagnetic spectrum when compared to other colors (about 10^20 Hz).

Early September wedding, would coral and violet work? Or is that over kill?

Add another color or not? Hunter green maybe? Or should I pick a neutral one?

Early September wedding, would coral and violet work? Or is that over kill?
It would be overkill for me. But, if you like it, that's what's important--it is your wedding after all.
Reply:overkill, not a good idea, take light autumn colors.
Reply:i would go with either coral and colors near it in color OR violet with pink, white, cream. i think you may have it right, coral and violet may be too much visually together.
Reply:personally, I cant picture those colours for a september wedding. even if it is early september. once septmeber hits I start to picture more fall colours. like maybe a burnt orange or the hunter green as the main colour. if you have your heart set on coral or violet then choose one or the other, but both together is too much...those colours just dont go together and hunter green doesnt really work with either colour well.
Reply:Yes it is overkill not only because they are both strong colors, but because of the season clash and also because the colors well...clash themselves. I don't mean to pick at your taste or offend you, but unless you found the *right* hues to match your bridal party, it's gonna look tacky.

Since it's early September, it's still sorta summer but not quite fall-- find a color group that falls in that category. For example, green would be good, but a neutral green such as sage green would work well. Hunter green is more suited to when it's closer to October or even in March.

If you like the coral color family, consider some alternatives. Find a coral that's a bit darker and has an orange undertone-- the undertone will make it late summer suitable and still fall within your taste. Take a look at this:

http://www.highfashionfabrics.com/images...

That color may not suit you, but it gives a start in looking for some colors.

Maybe consider alternatives for violet-- I actually think a shade of violet may work better. Here try this site and then follow my directions:

http://www.davidsbridal.com/mam_favorite...

It should take you to the David's Bridal mix and match separates. Once you're there, click on the center picture's options, where it says "cabernet/dahlia". Maybe this combination of coral and violet could work? It's definately nice for a late summer wedding.
Reply:I love coral, but violet doesn't go. Pick a neutral shade like silver sage green, or sandlewood beige or medium brown.
Reply:Human eyes respond best to odd numbers.

I would pick a nuetral to balance out the two strong ones yeah, although something like the hunter green you are talking about when dark is going to be a nuetral.

You have a light color with the coral, a meduim color with the violet so pick a dark color to get a balanced spectrum.

Refer to earlier advice about the paint chips. What's over kill to one person may just be cheery to some one else....it's all a matter of personal taste with you and your fiancee.
Reply:Honey, are you colorblind? I don't want to be mean but Coral, violet, and hunter green has to be one of the worst color combinations I can think of. How about a nice neutral brown and use coral or violet as an accent color (not both)
Reply:It depends on your personality. Would you wear those colours together on a normal day? If yes, go for it!! If no, you probably won't be comfortable with that colour scheme on your wedding day. Aim for something that expresses the real you- taking the groom into account of course!
Reply:Not the best colours luv, Coral and off White would be beautiful.

Why is my african violet not blooming? leaves are beautiful.?

African violets like to have their roots bound before they bloom. If they are in too big of a pot you probably won't get any blooms until the roots fill up the soil. I also like to use a special african violet pot that has two dishes...one fits inside the other...you put water in the bottom bowl and plant the african violet in the top one. The top one allows water to be soaked up into it and solves the problem of when to water...just keep water in the bottom bowl. You can fertilize in Spring with a light fertilizer. And keep them in a room with bright indirect sunlight.

Why is my african violet not blooming? leaves are beautiful.?
sometimes it will have a little rest.

i find mine does after i have given it a good haircut :)
Reply:IF fed correctly, placed in a north facing window, count on them blooming about once a month. Good luck
Reply:It sounds like you are over feeding them. Usually if you have great greenery and no blooms your soil is too rich, high in nitrogen.
Reply:I agree with using the African violet pots...I get them at Lowe's or Home Depot. Try that, and use the Miracle Gro liquid African violet food. Dilute it as the directions say and just give them a small dose of fertilizer every time you water them. Mine do best in indirect light in my east windows. Good luck!
Reply:African violets like warm indirect light. I keep mine on a shelf in a south window, but with venetian blinds pulled down behind them...they may need a little fertilizer...let soil completely dry out before you water...

Which necklace color match best with a pale brown and violet dress?

White gold

Which necklace color match best with a pale brown and violet dress?
I would look for something that would bring out all of the colors in the dress. I have seen necklaces with all sorts of different colored beads (brown, purple, green, gold) that accentuates the colors you are wearing and often looks different depending on the outfit. You want something that will stand out and be noticed!
Reply:white gold.... or white...
Reply:Silver!
Reply:if you are rich, try platinum, but for the rest of us,

go with a silver necklace with amathyst or a pretty purple stone and maybe amber or tiger eye as accents, or, you could try some light green, but use sparingly, and carry a lt green purse if you go with this idea.
Reply:I think the metallic family would bring out the dress because both of those colors are dark you need something to pop off of the dress. metalic silver or gold bead will look nice.
Reply:pearls
Reply:A violet neckless.
Reply:well, you have more than one option. 1, you could go with anything silver or, 2, you could wear a choker w/ one or both colors. good luck!!!!!!!
Reply:I like to wear accessories that have nothing to do with my outfit, then my shoes and bag can bring those colors out, but if your NOT like me and want to match I would go for neutral toned necklace with big stones or a neutral colored medallion or whatever you want to call it. Brown, Tan, or even White would look nice. Fashion is my thing and I tend to be different, for some reason when your coordinated but not perfect you get more compliments on your outfit because EVERYONE always matches to a T.
Reply:something with a baby pink pendant would be nice
Reply:I think silver would look best
Reply:Try violet
Reply:silver, white(pearls), violet, or gold
Reply:i'd have to say silver, but you could go beads depending on if it's casual or formal and whether the dress is sort of low cut or not
Reply:Jade or emerald. You look lovely today, by the way.
Reply:silver man go for it

When i want a dull yellow i mixe it whith violet but what should i do for a dark yellow?
add brown to yellow or green but be careful on the quantity
Reply:For a dark yellow, go to your paintbox, pull out Yellow Ochre or Raw Sienna, decide which is closest to the color you desire, and adjust from there. Otherwise you'll waste an unnecessary amount of your (more expensive) brighter yellow trying to darken it.
Reply:More violet. This is a matter of scumbling and glazing.
Reply:add brown and orange.
Reply:Add brown.
Reply:Have you ever heard of tints and shades. To make a tint of a color, you add white. To make a shade of a color you add black. You can also add the colors complement to it, and in the case of yellow, the complement is violet. Dark yellow to me would almost be green....GOOD LUCK....!
Reply:Add ochre
Reply:With oil paint, use gold ochre and raw sienna

Why does a scorpion glow when you shine ultra-violet on it?

The scorpion has special chemicals in its body that react to ultra violet light rays. The chemicals bond and create the glowing color you see.

What is the public opinion on ghosts supposedly being the spirits of someone dying a violet death on earth?

Are they stuck here on earth until "judgement day" or are they actually evil spirits disguised to mislead mankind?

What is the public opinion on ghosts supposedly being the spirits of someone dying a violet death on earth?
They are demons taking the images of dead people.

When a person dies, their souls either go to heaven or hell.
Reply:Ask Sylvia Brown.
Reply:Well As stated by you there are evil spirits on earth and they do trouble people selectively. But there are people who their power of prayers are able to drive these spirits away.I have seen the violent actions of the spirits and how they are subdued.

I dont know about what others opine but it is no effect on me.
Reply:i once mistook a naked muslim man for a ghost
Reply:I think that ghosts are anyone who either wants to be here or who had unfinished business or who died violently. I don't know that they are stuck here until the end of the earth (which in my opinion will never come, the earth is made of matter and it has mass and energy, therefore it will only change shape and types of energy and never really die), but I believe they will stay till they want to go.
Reply:if you see an apparition how do you know it's a ghost?

could it be someone astral projecting, inwhich case it's not a ghost?

could it be that you're glimpsing another dimention, in which case it's not a ghost?

could it be a leprachan or alien(same thing) employing a cloaking devise, in which case it's not a ghost?

could it be scotty transporting someone into your home, in which case it's not a ghost?

now if it's lepracahns then they just may be here until the judgment because that's what the folklore says.

Need help!!!what accessories and footwear would go best with a knee-level violet dress?
white strappy sandals, flat to 4 inch, that'll look great and add a simple single-pearl necklace
Reply:first of all, do not evr wear a knee lengh bottom with a knee lengh boot.

you might want to go with pumps or flats with the dress

for accessories, as many sparkly necklaces neck can hold

trust me, people will remember who you are after that day

in a good way!

also, maybe like a flower pin on your hair.

if u have long hair, get your hair wavy/curly

if u have short hair, wave the edges

trust me, u would look sooo cute

or u might wanna go with 3 inch stilettos if ur short

if ur tall, wear flats

if ur normal, wear pumps

nvr wear loafers

ughhh so much for nancy drew lol

HAHA

hope this works~
Reply:Foot wear is an easy answer. No dyed to match shoes! Shoes should be a neutral like black, taupe or brown. A shiny, black low cut shoe would look great. Be sure the style matches your dress. Nylons should be of a nude color or as near to your natural skin as possible. Moderate adornment is suggested so it will not over shadow the event. Small gold or silver earrings, a watch or small bracelet should complete your look. Let your happiness and achievement be your adornment for graduation.
Reply:conrider heels 2-6 inches purple or black maybe white and go with the flow dont be to average
Reply:definitely black high heels!! For accesories i would say some kind of hat. not a trucker hat but a very formal one! lol. trust me on this one!! i'm a genius on fashion! everyone comes 2 me for fashion advice!
Reply:Any color would look ok , but i think the best colors for a violet dress is silver or white. Get cute accessories, BUT don't over do it! Best of luck!!!
Reply:you could wear pumps or flats. it depends what kind of dress it is. if its a cotton dress than i would also wear some long fake pearl necklaces and wrap it around twice. if it were something more formal, i would wear a gold/silver necklace with a small diamond pendant.
Reply:black ballet flats

and a black big beaded neklace.

I have a plant my mother calles Gentian Violet - can anyone help me with it's real name or a website for info?
What do the leaves look like? Shape? Veining? Glossy or rough?

Okay, then let's try Rose of Sharon (although I don't think any have purple stamens) link 5. Also Hardy Hibiscuc, link 6.

Gentian Violet is a dye. Look at the first link.

There is a flower named Gentian but doesn't look at all like a pansy, see top picture on link 2.

Now for the fun stuff.

I think that you are talking about Prairie Gentian, also called Lisianthus, Texas Bluebell latin name Eustoma grandiflorum. See links 3 %26amp; 4.
Reply:When I first read your question, African Violets came to mind, but the next part of your question says it is a shrub, so it can't be an African Violet.

Do a google search for "identifying violets".
Reply:Try Sunset.com
Reply:Maybe you could try the RHS website,I think it www.rhs.co.uk.I am sure they will have information on any plant that you grow.
Reply:I GOT IT! it is "GENTIANA asclepiadea. Willow Gentian. native of europe and west asia. forms clumps of arching stems to 2 foot tall. dark green 2-3 foot leaves. blooms in late summer with deep blue, violet to purple blooms with yellow eyes. some blooms resembel stars. clumps can become woody with time.

the gentian family includes annuals and perennials from many parts of the world. many plants from this family have blue or purple flowers, including one persian violet.
Reply:Sounds like your leaves are getting burnt by watering and the sun beating down on the water-- or else you aren't watering enough and they are drying up.

What if a violet goby has a white thing on top of its mouth does that meen it shedding?

It probably means it has Ich (pronounced ick). It's short for a long word that I don't recall at the moment. But the staff at the fish store will know what Ich is and will direct you to meds for ridding the fish of the disease. Expect to see other fish with the same symptoms.

Girl flower theme names: Iris, Lillya, Dalia(h),Violet/Violette, Jasmin?

My hubby and I picked out girl names that mean flower but I want middle names any suggestions and do you like the names? Surname is Bosque sounds french but not pronounced like it. Thank You to all P.S note I would like to pick first names that are easy to pronounce in spanish for my parents and inlaws they speak and understand english but I want names that don't sound ridiculous in spanish thanks.

Girl flower theme names: Iris, Lillya, Dalia(h),Violet/Violette, Jasmin?
Good suggestion, R - Our daughter is Daisy Grace! I think flower names are beautiful - really feminine and pretty.

These lovely old-fashioned flower names are coming back, but paired with a really modern middle name, they might sound silly. Try to stick with fairly traditional names like Ruby, Anne, Adelaide, Beth, Edie etc. Think of names that women of your grandmother or great grandmother' era might have had.

Also, maybe pair it with "virtues" names like Hope, Faith, Verity, Prudence, Grace.

EDIT: please note that the flower is spely D-A-H-L-I-A with the A in the middle.
Reply:I like Lillya, Violet and Jasmin the best.

Lillya Marie

Violet Anne

Jasmin Renee
Reply:I don't really like any of those names. Good luck and congrats!
Reply:jasmin rose or violet grace
Reply:Narcisus, Rose, Daisy, anything but pansy and she will be a mum soon enough. lol

Lily Anne

Violet Marie
Reply:Violet Angelina

Iris Amelia

Lillian or Lilliana is also a good form of Lily... or Lily Anna to be complete with Middle name

You could go with Yasmin for a spanish twist on Jasmine.

Yasmin Eden

I'd stay away from Grace, Marie, and Lynn as middle names. Everyone uses them just to fill the space.
Reply:Dalia Iris Bosque - Love this name!
Reply:I really like Daisy. From your list my favorite is Violet and I think most names would sound good as a middle name for it.

Reply:My favorite "girl flower names" are Dalilah or Iris! I think they're both adorable. Also, both go very well with your last name. As far as the first name being easily pronounced by your Spanish-speaking parents and in-laws, I think Iris would probably be easier to pronounce than Delilah. More easily than Iris would be Violet/Violette though. But, just make sure you name your baby the name you love! Don't just name it something you only like 'cause it's easier to pronounce - your parents and in-laws can learn!!! :o)

As for middle names, consider...

Iris Shaye Bosque

Iris Olivia Bosque

Iris Kayla Bosque

Delilah Rose Bosque

Delilah Elise Bosque

Delilah Corynn Bosque

Hope this helps! *Congrats!*
Reply:Iris or Violet.
Reply:Don't forget Rose and Daisy. As a middle name Marie will go with all.
Reply:How about months as middle names?

Iris June

Lillya May

Daliah August

Violet January

Jasmin October

If you don't like that then how about gem stones/jewels:

Iris Pearl

Lillya Opal

Daliah Emerald

Violet Sapphire

Jasmin Ruby
Reply:What a pretty idea!

Out of the ones you mentioned, I like Dalia Danae.

Personally, I would scrap Jasmine because of the Disney princess, though. If you like the jasmine flower in particular, maybe consider the French version, Jessamine/Jessina. Maybe Jessamine Estella? Some other ideas for you:

Delilah Araceli Bosque

Jacinta Gabriella Bosque

Saffron Elean Bosque

Tansy Jade Bosque

Zinnia Angelina Bosque

I'm not sure how it's pronounced in Spanish, but I love Ianthe. It's Latin for 'violet', so it's still a flower name, but more unusual. Ianthe Penelope, maybe?

My question is: Is there a product on the market that I can apply in the summer that will get rid of this junk? Or should I have applied it in the earlier months? Or perhaps it is something else that I should be doing, beside applying a product on my lawn. HELP!!!

I live in northern Indiana. In the summer, I get a lot of violet, clover, moss and other junk in my lawn...?
Many times clover will simply get burned out by the sun if you are just patient. The best way to get rid of weeds is to mow often and water deep %26amp; infrequently. Proper maintenance like this will usually help your lawn keep out those pesky weeds. If you really need some more help, you can go to your local lawn chemical store and ask for something.
Reply:I live in Fort Wayne

Where do you live?

Are you cute?

:)
Reply:Violet (and even clover) can be difficult. Sorry, but you may have to apply grass killer and then reseed. Moss usually indicates that the soil should be limed.

Is it okay to wear a dress with a cream color background with pale violet/gray flowers to a wedding?

The wedding is a military wedding (dress white uniforms) at 11:00 a.m. in California. I know you're not supposed to wear white, but does that mean even a white/cream background on a pastel print dress?

Is it okay to wear a dress with a cream color background with pale violet/gray flowers to a wedding?
Your dress sounds fine. The 'no white' rule refers to solid white.
Reply:When in doubt...
Reply:Thanks for providing such great details, that helps a lot, I would say since it is a daytime wedding in a warm climate your dress sounds completely acceptable, if the dress is cream, and not white, it should be okay, I don't think anyone will be offended or anything, so go for it sista'! Hope this helped!!!
Reply:If the print is all over the dress and not just at the bottom along the hem, then I think you will be safe.
Reply:Wear the dress and have a great time. I do not believe there is any dress code for the guests at a military wedding.

A 'trailer' african violet?

I recently purchased a Rob's Lilli Pilli violet from a nearby plant nursery . .it was labeled as a "semiminiature trailer' and is about the size of a fifty cent piece. what is a 'trailer' African violet? and will it eventually get bigger?

i have been successfully growing African violets for two years, but this is the first time I have come across a 'trailer'.

A 'trailer' african violet?
Trailers are the same as other African violets in every way except one--growth habit. These are branching plants that have a naturally spreading habit. Because they grow multiple-crowned, they can produce huge amounts of foliage and bloom. Because of their growth habit, they are especially suitable for windows.

Unlike most other trailing varieties, ours are true trailers. All have a compact, natrurally crawling habit that requires little or no pinching. All are extremely profuse bloomers and are very highly recommended, especially for novices, since they require little maintenance to grow well.

The size of a trailing violet is determined by the grower. Because they are spreading plants by nature, even "miniature" varieties can grow into very large plants. Should you wish to grow yours smaller, simply keep the plant pruned-back by pinching the tips of runners to limit its growth.

Personally, we prefer to grow our trailers as ground covers. This is how the plant shown above was grown. As the plant spreads, place it into wider, but still shallow (no deeper than 2-3"), pots. Trailers have a shallow root system. Occasional pinching, pruning, and removal of foliage will encourage even more dense, lush, growth.

If you'd like to grow yours in a hanging basket, perhaps in a window, this can be easily done with trailers. Simply grow it in a somewhat smaller pot and let the runners crawl over the pot edge and "hang". Since a window tends to illuminate only the side of the plant facing it, it's important to regularly turn the plant, and to hang it low enough so that the top growth receives light.
Reply:A trailer African Violet is going to grow like a strawberry plant or a plant like a Spider Plant or a wave petunia you but in a hanging basket. Semi-minature means not it should stay neat. The source is the site of the creator.

Why is it important that crystal violet is a darker stain than safranin?

it's for bio, gram stain.. thx!!

Why is it important that crystal violet is a darker stain than safranin?
It allows for the differentiation between gram postive and gram negative bacteria.

You stain with the Crystal Violet, then you apply a mordant (iodine), then you rinse with alcohol or acetone and then you stain with the safranin.

If the bacteria is Gram Positive, the Crystal Violet will "stick" to the cell wall. If it is gram negative, the crystal violet will "wash off" and then the safranin will be visible.(pink)

The safranin also stains the gram positve but you cannot see it over the darker Crystal Violet.

This allows the differentiation to be Purple=postive, Pink=negative.

Reply:ya, leaf cutting is a good idea! Report It
Reply:Growing African Violets from seed can be hard...most people do leaf cuttings. Cut a leaf at its base, dip it in rooting hormone and insert it into a free draining medium, like pumice stone mixed with a little peat. Keep in high humidity and do not let dry out. In a few weeks, roots will develop, a new shoot will form at the leafs base, and you will have essentially cloned the mother plant.

In what way reverse osmosis purified water better than Ultra violet based system?

UV only kills the germs, but does not remove solid particles from the water. There is a growing notion that this particles have something to do with renal stone formation. RO removes both the germs and the solid particles. RO approximates distillation.

In what way reverse osmosis purified water better than Ultra violet based system?
see UV only kills the organism, but cant filter any thing from it like salt from salty water. this is a process you can compare with filteration.
Reply:Composition wise osmosis purified water is better than the UV based system

i just want to know if i did anything wrong..

and if she swollows that purple spit will it make her sick?

I put Gential Violet on my 10 day old daughters tounge for Thrush, shes acting sick. Im worried?
I just got this off the internet for you....

10) There is no need to treat just because the baby has thrush in his mouth. The reason to treat is the mother's and/or the baby's discomfort. Babies, however, do not commonly seem to be bothered by thrush.

http://www.bflrc.com/newman/breastfeedin...

It did say that you it could be used for thrush - but really if the baby/child acting lathargic - TAKE THE CHILD TO THE EMERGENCY! You don't want to take chances. The child could be alergic to this medicine.
Reply:Contact your pediatrician immediately. You may get your answer over the phone, or the doc may want your baby to get medical attention. Be sure to mention the lethargy, it may be dehydration.
Reply:Get the hell of the computer if youre so worried and take her to the er.............god
Reply:what on earth is genital Violet?

Why would you put anything on a 10 day old baby?

Is your wife breastfeeding and causing her discomfort when she feeds?

Why wouldn't you ask a pharmacist before doing anything so silly!

Reply:A better way to cure thrush is to buy a really good acidophilus and have your wife take the recommended dosage. Also, before she nurses, mix some of the acidophilus ( you will have to break open a capsule) with lanolin. Just a small amount of each and put it on her nipples. This way the acidophilus will enter your baby's mouth. Put this mixture on pacifiers or bottle nipples too. If the thrush has transferred to your wife's nipples, she will want to reapply the lanolin mixture after the baby is done nursing as well. The Gentian Violet works too but it stains everything as you are finding out and it takes longer to clear everything up. Hope this helps and btw, I used this to treat thrush with my first 2 children. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any more questions. Good luck.

As for the other symptoms, she may have a urinary tract infection. My son acted the same way. Lathargic, throwing up, going limp and pale. Just take her to the doctor and they will give you a prescription. Be aware that the antibiotics will probably make the thrush worse for awhile.
Reply:you might wanna call the dr. Check her temp and if its high at all go to the ER. SHe could be having an allergic reaction

Is the only reason Elizabeth Taylor considered a great beauty because of her violet eyes?

I mean, her eyes are gorgeous, but there are a lot of women with her other facial features (nose, mouth, etc.) Is she, then, a little overrated?

Is the only reason Elizabeth Taylor considered a great beauty because of her violet eyes?
No I dont think she is overrated . Yes there are other women with her features , but those women werent discovered and cast to play the roles that she has played . At that time her looks were spell binding . She also has a lot of talent . You know who I think is overrated in the look department ? Jennifer Aniston !!!!! I dont see why she is considered so attractive , and I dont think she understands it either .
Reply:No. That woman was gorgeous. Between her and Sophia Lauren no one could touch neither in those days. I don't know many women who have her features. If you do let me know so I can take the same magic pill.
Reply:That was certainly an element, but in her youth she was really quite stunning!

Is gentian violet safe for use on infants?

my 1 month old has thrush and nystatin isn't working. Will gentian violet help?

Is gentian violet safe for use on infants?
One should be careful not to apply too much Gentian Violet to the tongue per day because many infants are sensitive to it and can develop blistering in the back of the mouth and throat. This is a painful situation for the baby. Typical use is to dip only the tip of a Q tip in the solution then rub the tip around the top of the bottle to get some of the excess off of the Q-tip before applying. Then rub it over the infected area to include the back of the tongue and the sides of the mouth inside the cheek area. It should be done no more than 3 times a day. If the thrush does not improve in 2 weeks, stop use. As far as I know, there are no known studies regarding long term use of Gentian Violet and after two weeks, the infant may develop mouth sores or blisters. One thing to remember about Gentian Violet is that the results are not immediate. Most people notice a difference in about one week, however, typically it is less painful for infants to breastfeed after an application of Gentian Violet.
Reply:Yes, but it stains very badly.
Reply:yes worked great with my kids nystatin is a rash cream why would you put that in your childs mouth

How can u describe the color violet by smell, feel, look and tast?

Violet smells like violet roses just cut out from a garden fragrant and alive. It feels like the richest of velvet fabric. and tastes like juicy plums melting in my mouth and looks like a lavender pansy with it's small face winking at me.

Can ultra-violet rays from ordinary fluorescent lighting fixtures penetrate pvc pipe to affect its contents?

we have found algae in some water from a treatment plant, in an environment where none of the process is exposed to sunlight.

Can ultra-violet rays from ordinary fluorescent lighting fixtures penetrate pvc pipe to affect its contents?
The ultaviolet is actually absorbed by the posphors in the lamp creating the visible light. Very little gets out of the tube and it will no penetrate pvc.

What effect does the computer screen's light have on the aging of skin, if any? Is it an ultra-violet light?

It is not UV light but it is electro magnecting radiation. It has got nothing to do with aging of skin.

African Violet how do you proper gate?

Propagating african violets by leaf stem cuttings.

African violets are one of the easiest house plants to propagate. They are best propagated by removing mature leaves from the mother plant in the form of leaf stem cuttings. (see photo left ) To take the cuttings follow the stages listed below :-

1. Water the mother plant and leave for 30 minutes, to make sure the plant is not water stressed when the cuttings are taken.

2. Remove the leaves to form the basic cutting as shown in the photo. Select mature leaves which tend to be on the outer edge of the mother plant. Try to take the cutting so it has the maximum stem length. Cutting compost needs to be well drained but at the same time needs to hold moisture to encourage rooting. At GardenAdvice.co.uk we normally mix 50% peat potting compost with 50% vermiculate to create the rooting compost.

3. Insert several leaves into a 3 to 4 inch pot.

4. Water the pots well to firm in the cuttings trying not to wet the leaf surfaces.

5. Finally place the cuttings on a window sill or in a greenhouse remembering to keep them out of direct sunlight as excessive heat during the day will prevent rooting. You should have about 50% of the cutting root in 4 - 6 weeks.

The key to the propagation of african violets is to keep the leaf surfaces dry during the rooting stage. The main problem you will face is the rooting in the stem and leave.

http://www.gardenadvice.co.uk/howto/hous...

African Violet how do you proper gate?
Clip a healthy leaf from the parent plant as close to the stem as possible. Place the end of the leaf into a cup or bottle filled with water (brown medicine bottles work best) then put the cutting into a bright window or under grow lights. In a few weeks you will see roots on the end of the leaf and can pot it into the media of your choice.

I prefer this method for starting cuttings as I can actually see the roots begin to strike. Also they will live happily in the water jars for several weeks/months so I can start many cuttings at once and not have to deal with starting many pots of media.

My Sony Camera has a violet lavender hue on the screen and it is affecting the picture help?
Seems like you put a magnet too close the the LCD. I am not sure if magnets do affect screens anymore but if it does it will make a violet color. It probably wont do anything to your pictures just that you cant see it right till you put it on your computer.
Reply:well if its on the lcd screen of your camera, it cannot affect the pictures you shoot. other way, if your pictures are getting afected, you may have damaged your ccd through some inter magnetic link... blablabla. anyways, now heres the solution : you could get it checked from a local picture station or send it back through warranty to the company and they may fix it free of cost if you provide valid reasons. The same problem is with my sony too, but thats because of uv rays and other crap ... donot try to solve it yourself as you may damage it further...

What all can i feed a dragon fish(violet goby)?
You need to take a little time researching your new pet. Make sure you understand what it needs and what it can just merely live with. I hear that they will eat algae wafers, preferred diet is a mixture of infaunal invertebrates (worms and insect larvae, for example,They will also scrape algae from rocks (that's what their teeth are for). They also enjoy small or broken algae pellets, bloodworms, blackworms, and chopped earthworms. They have VERY LITTLE interest in larger foods such as river shrimp or feeder fish, whatever the retailers sometimes suggest. Stores will often suggest you feed your fish other fish that is because they would prefer you buy the most expensive food for your pet. Make sure you buy what he or she needs to eat. Violet Goby's are not predators if they eat other fish it's not what they really want to eat.

:) Go online do some research. And, then ask pet stores.
Reply:dragon gobys are non aggressive fish! I have a 12 inch goby dragon and he will eat flakes but you can get some dried brine shrimp or blood worms. They do not eat smaller live fish! Report It
Reply:I think when your dragon goby is big, he would eat the rosy red barbs since they are very small. I think that you can feed it some live guppies. Take good care of them when being acclimated. Need a Violet/Purple color-depositing shampoo/conditioner. Suggestions?

I am looking for a color-depositing shampoo/conditioner for violet/purple tinted hair. Basically, I'm looking for something like Sheer Blonde/Brilliant Brunette/Radiant Red, except for violet hair color.

Can anyone tell me if something like this exists? I know there are violet products that are meant to counteract yellow tones for platinum blonde or silver hair. Can I use one of those or would it be useless?

Finally, if no one knows of anything readily available on the market, does anyone have suggestions for making my own? I have heard that you can mix a little Manic Panic dye with your shampoo/conditioner and it will do the same thing. Pros, is this a good idea?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The violet-eyed one has a chesnut brown hair with pink skin-- no freckles. But she was the only dark haired one of six. The rest are blond with medium blue eyes. I have emerald green eyes as does my mother (who has the dark hair like my sister). My mother's parents were both medium blue eyed and blond.

My father has light blue eyes, very red complexion with lots of freckles and was blondish brown haired. His father had very very red hair.

Hello, I m using gentian violet on my newborn and on my wife for yeast issues on the breast?

and tricks? or just plain ol soap and water? Im not touching it now I m going to wait until the treatment is complete. Just want a head start

thanks

Hello, I m using gentian violet on my newborn and on my wife for yeast issues on the breast?
Yep. It stains and looks horrible. But it works!!

For us it seemed like time just needed to pass for it to fade. On my hands I tried using alcohol %26amp; nail polish remover, even diluted bleach... heck bleach didn't get it out of my nursing bras either!

From our last application, it was days until it faded... we just made no plans for pictures, and if anyone asked - we told them the truth!
Reply:It wears off after oh, about a week or two if I recall.

And don't let him drool on the nice sheets...

I had purple boobies and he had a purple face for awhile, it seemed. Alot of his little itty bitty clothes are stained purple around the neck... It works very well, but it simply has to wear off with time. And the insides of his lips are going to be that intense bright color for days. Take lots of pictures.
Reply:If yuo are not touching it now you will notice that as the days go by the purple will fade. Just wash gently when he is in the bath. Dont panic about it though it fades
Reply:You just have to let it fade. knowing moms will understand and give you a nod of support!-)

To avoid the spread, use the lanolin cream they sell for nipples and put it on and around his lips before the gentian violet and also along the edges of the areola and it will wipe off easier.
