How would I write these reactions into chemical equations?

I had an unknown solution; I noticed it was a sodium salt due to its PH of 7, I then tested for the present of I- by adding 6M HNO3 until acidic, then added 15 drops hexane and 10 drops chlorine water. Then I mixed it very well and found that the hexane layer is violet which confirms the present of I-; which indicates my unknown should be NaI

How would I write the above reactions into balanced chemical equations?

How would I write these reactions into chemical equations?
could be potassium iodide...

I'd take a drop of the solution onto a fire cleaned paper clip %26amp; torch it

sodium burns bright yelowish orange for longer than you care to wait

potassium burns pint to violet to lavendar depending upon the concentration

2I- %26amp; Cl2 --%26gt; 2Cl- %26amp; I2

the hexane is just a cheap, safe organic solvent that dissolves the iodine without a chemical reaction.. in non polar solvents iodine dissolves well %26amp; gives a pink to purple color... so there is no equation to give

the chlorine oxidizes the iodide to iodine, while the chlorine gets reduced to chloride
Reply:First you should collect the data. Maybe ask your teacher, boss, professer, etc..... I hope that answered your question. Good question, bye!

Experience with gentian violet?

Has anyone ever used gentian violet for a vaginal yeast infection? How messy of an ordeal was it for you? Does it permanently stain clothing? Are their any tricks or advice that you can give in order to avoid the mess and staining? Also, did it help you with your infection?

Thanks! :)

Experience with gentian violet?
I have never used genitian violet but my mom did years ago and she said that it is quite messy (I've read this somewhere as well). It can permanently stain clothes.

I would recommend that you include a pad or a pantyliner in your panties to try and help minimize some of the mess that comes from using this medication. I would recommend checking with your doctor as well for additional ideas on how to help minimize the mess and staining that occurs with this medication.

My mom said that it was very effective at helping a yeast infection. I've read this as well.

Newly bought violet (dragon) goby acting strangely?

i recently purchased a violet goby and i noticed it behaving strangely after a few hours in the tank. it stays near the top of the tank in a vertical position, and from what ive read about them they are natural hiders, i also read from one source that this could mean my alkalinity is high, any suggestions on this behavior or adjusting alkalinity? when i tested the water it said it was fine

Newly bought violet (dragon) goby acting strangely?
I don't know how often you do partial water changes, but the dragon gobies are very touchy about water quality. They are also brackish water fish.

If you haven't been doing weekly partial water changes, you need to start now. A 30% weekly change will do wonders for any fish. Partial water changes are the most important thing you can do for any fish tank. When you do water changes, be sure to add salt in the proper amount to keep his water brackish (see below for specific gravity measurements).

It removes the build up of ammonia, nitrites and nitrates that accumulate as fish waste and uneaten food decay in the tank.

Your pH may be fine, but it might also be very different from what he was used to. You should have tested the water in the tank (bag) it came from and determined how far off your water is compared to that. Sometimes you need to take up to 3 or 4 hours to acclimate a fish to your tank water so it doesn't go into pH shock which can be fatal.

By acclimating I mean slowly adding a little bit (maybe a half cup) of tank water to the bag at 15 minute intervals so he doesn't experience a violent change in pH all at once. I have taken as much as 3 hours to acclimate an expensive, delicate fish to my tank water so there is no abrupt change in the pH. As little as .5 difference on the scale can send them into pH shock.

You do know they are brackish water fish, right. They need salt in their water to stay healthy. Brackish water is 1.012 on the specific gravity scale. Fresh is 1.000 and seawater is 1.024-.026. Do you have salt in the water for him?

Here is a site that might help you out some:

http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/A%20temp...

I suggest an immediate 50% water change with salt added and watch his behaviour for the next few hours. A specific gravity tester can be purchased at most good pet shops that have fish. They are not expensive and are a must to keep your water at the brackish level properly.

Good luck with your dragon, they are very cool fish.

Reply:He is probably adjusting to his new habitat. Give him a few more days and he'll be behaving normally.

If you're positive that it's not this, then the nitrite levels could be high. What are your nitrate, nitrite, and chlorine levels on your water test? Saltwater fish don't normally get swim bladder disease, but you could give him the inside of a cooked pea if you're cautious about this.

What effect do you suspect the following would have on your judgement of the Gram reaction of an organism?

Using an old Gram's Crystal Violet preparation containing crystalized dye.

Increasing the length of time for counterstaining.

Destaining with ethanol for one minute.

Susbstituting aqueous crystal viloet for Grams' Crystal Violet.

What effect do you suspect the following would have on your judgement of the Gram reaction of an organism?
using an old gram stain would create precipitate on your slide. if you are not well trained in reading gram stains, you might mistake them as gram positive organisms.

increasing the length of counterstaining would make the organisms pink or falsely gram neg.

destaining for one minute is too much. you would overdecolorize the bacteria and it will all turn out gram neg.

sorry, don't know the answer to last question. i've never substituted it with aqueous primary stain... i don't think it will make a big difference though.

Has anyone read the book "Violet On The Runway"? Or "Poseur'"?

Please tell me if they were good books.

Has anyone read the book "Violet On The Runway"? Or "Poseur'"?
I agree Violet on The Runway was good, but I L-O-V-E-D Poseur. Poseur is super funny, well written and the characters are cool and unique.

I have no idea why Couture Couture thinks this book is about "ghettolicious" girls. I mean, one of the four main characters is the half-korean, half-black daughter of a famous rapper. I loved her. Maybe Couture Couture only wants to read about vapid blond ditzes (could her avatar be a clue?????) She probably didn't even read the book at all because just open the back cover and you see the writer grew up in LA.

Peace!!!!
Reply:i'm writing my own book, in case you didn't know. and it's NOT set in LA, unlike the 8 gazillion books out there. I'm not dramatic. You're prejudiced, aaliyah. just because i'm blonde, and i'm, to put it bluntly, white, doesn't mean i'm vapid. Report It
Reply:Poseur was awful, to me. It was boring, and had more product placements than the Super Bowl in it. Not everyone cares about girls in a private school in LA, written maybe by an author that hasn't ever even BEEN to LA. And also, who cares about ghettolicious fashion designer girls?

Violet On The Runway was just fabulous, because we all want to know the secret life of a model, and all the glamour and glitz.

How did life on Earth get started?

I know about the 'primordial soup', the procaryotic and eucaryotic cells and ultra violet radiation. anything else? life from other planets ending up here? Or from Mars, etc? By the way, this is NOT a religious question so no rubbish about God creating it.

How did life on Earth get started?
Most people are aware of the main theory about how the Earth formed 4.6 billion years ago. There is also evidence of a major asteroid bombardment on the moon 3.8 to 4 billion years ago. It must have affected the Earth even more and wiped out any life that may have existed. There is evidence of stromatolites 3.5 billion years old. Stromatolites are blue green algae that deposit stone in successive layers. Their oxygen is also thought responsible for precipitating the iron out of the early ocean that is the source of nearly all the worlds iron ore deposits so the evidence is pretty good. That gives a pretty good time frame for when life probably began, sometime after 4 billion years ago.

The stromatolites exist today but they aren't thought to be the first life on Earth. It is likely they evolved photosynthesis building on more primitive systems which used hydrogen sulfide to reduce organic compounds and power their metabolism. How life began before that and evolved into those "primitive" bacteria isn't known exactly because life can incorporate all the hydrocarbons so they essentially erased any previous evidence. They appeared so early that little evidence would be likely for the more primitive life that must have evolved into them.

The first life could have taken up several different strategies but the most efficient ones eventually took over. It is likely they consisted of some sort of self replicating chemicals or system. Very complex molecules could be formed by UV, lighting, pressure, heat, asteroid strikes and time. One of the self replicating systems probably started using RNA in much the same way that modern life uses proteins. There are a few RNA molecules in modern life that retain some enzymes built of RNA. I think it was only natural to expand on that so other molecules were added to the RNA. Amino acids were eventually added and cleaved off to make proteins. Amino acids were used because they fit on the RNA molecules. The RNA then adopted the role of template for new protein molecules. Enzymes evolved that enhanced that role. This allowed evolution a much more efficient system and the number of amino acids expanded until the number used by all life was reached. That gave these lifeforms, more primitive than anything today, all the tools they needed to replace nearly all their chemical systems with proteins or enzymes with a very efficient means of evolution. RNA wasn't stable enough so DNA was eventually used for permanent storage of the RNA template. From that point, there really isn't any great mystery or scientific controversy how life evolved.
Reply:Vegetative life started at the bottom of the ocean, on the edge of underwater "volcanoes", where the cool water mixed with the super-heated geo-thermal vents, causing a primordial slime to begin to grow in the dark, some 3-4 Billion years ago!

One Billion years later, this slime eventually mutated into a creature which had half the properties of a plant, and half the properties of an animal. It could breathe either oxygen or carbon dioxide...

Another Billion years later, the first sea animal came into existence, which exclusively operated on oxygen, while eliminating carbon dioxide...

One Billion years ago, the Sea Sponge was born, and that simple animal, that we use to scrub our backs, and clean our sinks, is the common ancestor of all marine and land animals today!
Reply:In not wanting a religious answer you have eliminated the only logical option. The chances of chemicals and energy making life without intelligent input is next to nothing. If you wanted to know the origin of computers, but did not want to invoke man, you will never find the answer.

I think that it is odd that people will believe a natural explanation, even if it logically absurd. However, they disregard any explanation that involves the supernatural regardless of how logical it is.
Reply:Why is it rubbish to say that God created it!

It is utterly unscientific to rule out one possibility before you start!

To claim that life arose from non-life is a religious position in itself - requiring a great deal of faith, since it contradicts all known scientific principles.
Reply:You shouldn't be so closed-minded...there's no proof that some invisible flying god DIDN'T invent life here. Doesn't matter to me, really, because how life got here doesn't matter. It's not important. What we're doing while we're here, is.

Personally, if I gave it any thought, I'd like to think we're an alien experiment, put here by some master race from another planet, to see how long we exist before eradicating ourselves. Then when they get bored, they'll send a Giant Meteor thisaway to see how we cope with impending doom. That would be cool.
Reply:Oparin and Woese had some theories about how life got started from the "primordial soup" but no one has succeeded so far in "creating life" in the laboratory. It is a mystery and a difficult one.
Reply:No one entirely knows; there are some hypotheses out there, but they haven't yet nailed down the likeliest one.

African violets. I have a side board by a window and want to grow African violets?

My grandmother had a green thumb. As a child, i used to admire all the beautiful flowers. Are they hard to take care of. I am not very good with plants but would welcome any comments

African violets. I have a side board by a window and want to grow African violets?
African Violets are pretty easy to grow. There are a few things to be mindful of: 1st. They don't like hot, direct sunlight. It's best to put them in a good East window. Though they'll be okay almost anywhere, except your Southern windows. They don't like water on their leafs. Watering from the bottom is great, but as long as you keep the water off of the leaves you can water from the top too. Lastly, they like to be root bound. That is, keep them in a small pot. You should hardly ever need to transplant them.

They like an acidic soil, which is why tea is sometimes recommended. Most potting soil mixes are peat moss based, which is usually acidic by its nature. A couple times a year you could do a soil pH test, if you wanted. A general purpose water soluble fertilizer in the spring and summer is all you really need. There are some specifically mixed for African Violets, those would be okay too.

Buy a few and give them a try, they're pretty easy. It's easier to remember, and practice on a few, rather than just one.

I hope that this helps

Good luck-
Reply:African violets need special care but they are not that hard to grow as long as you remember a few things.

1. Never water from the top, always from the bottom.

2. Never leave the pots sitting in water all the time.

I could not grow violets at one time until I was given one in a special pot. Its a 2 peice set. An unglazed bisque pot sits inside a glazed pot. You can keep the glazed pot full of water and it slowly soaks through the unglazed pot giving the violet just enough water.

If you can't get these pots you can just set your pots of violets in a pan of water for half an hour whenever the soil starts to feel dried out.

Also, the best plant food for a violet is weak tea once a month. Mine had stopped blooming and I tired different plant foods. Some violets died. Then I was told about the tea. It worked wonders.

You put a tea bag in hot water and let it steep for a while. Then weaken it with cold water until it is a light color. But don't give this to them more often than once a month.

Also remember to keep turning the plants every couple of days so that they will grow evenly.

You should be careful to make sure the leaves do not touch the window as they will get damp and turn brown.

Water spilt on the leaves will also turn them brown so be careful splashing water around. If water should get splashed on the leaves, very gently blot the water off becareful not to push the water down into the hairs on the leaves and you may save them.

I hope this helps and that you enjoy your violets as much as I do.
Reply:African Violets should only be watered from the bottom so it can soak up the water. Also only water maybe weekly. When the bloom dies, just pinch them off. They look great in a wicker basket too. Also Christmas cactus's look pretty too. Good luck!
Reply:They should be watered from the bottom. Not to often because they are used to being pretty dry. Also you can cut off a leaf ,cut a good amount of stem as well and put it in a glass of water and leave it their. It will eventually grow roots and then you can plant it in a pot with some soil and you have a whole new plant. It is alot better than going out and buying a whole new one. Especially if you have kids because they will love look at the roots growing everyday. Hope I could help

What 3 primary colors that are mixed together with secondary colors?

The 3 primary colors that can be mixed with secondary colors that can be mixed. I know the 3 primary colors are blue, red, and yellow. I also know that the 3 secondary colors are orange, green, and violet.

What 3 primary colors that are mixed together with secondary colors?
the primary colors are red yellow and blue.the secondary colors are orange green and violet.you would mix red and blue to get violet and red and yellow to get orange and yellow and blue to get green.hence that saying B+R=V,R+Y=O,and Y+B=G.

If you talking mixing paints the three primary colors are indeed Red, Blue and Yellow. If you are talking mixing color for something like stage lighting the Green replaces Yellow. Silly as it sounds, what you see and what your brain perceives frequently is out of tune with reality. But than life would be pretty boring if a few things didn't go bump in the night.

Add on note: Okay then, we are talking light mixing for the stage. The primaries are RGB - Red, Blue and Green.

The additive primaries are MCY - magenta, cyan, yellow. And a three way blend yields pure white light. These are the colors which result from projecting mixed light on a darkened stage.

The subtractive colors result from projecting these additive primaries a white background. The resultant colors here are red, blue and green with a full blend yielding black.

The reason I mention the subtractive colors is in stage lighting one must be aware of not just the light gels one uses in the spots, but the painted backgrounds and costume colors used. They are all part of your color palette.

The same discussion applies to ink jet printers and computer monitors. Hope this helps.

Why red, yellow and violet wavelength has two spectral lines in mercury spectrum?

There are two transitions in the energy levels of mercury that are close to each other in energy difference, therefore the wavelength of the light from these two transitions are very close. See also "fine structure".

Who else think the roses are red violets are blue poem is extremely smart?

I think it's such an ironic poem. The poet obviously took flowers, such as roses, and violets, and specifically named their colours despite what their name suggests. Since it is a love poem I think the traditional "sugar is sweet and so are you." suggests that the person being written about sounds tough but is really just a sweetheart.

Violets- should be purple,

Roses- should be pink.

I had one set in a ring when I was 16 but it was stolen when my house got burglarized. If I was in daylight it was one color, then inside it was different, and I remember sometimes it was violet, sometimes grayish blue. I don't remember what it was called but I would love to get one like it again.

I would like to know what the stone is called that is different colors depending on the light?
I think any kind of gemstone. But the one your thinking of is the Mystic Fire Topaz Gemstones.
Reply:these stones are called gems and have are divided in major seven types but one you are referring seems to be Ruby, which is the Sun stone it has violet reflections in sunlight and when inside the room it gets into dark grayish.

check up before you finally buy
Reply:Mystic topaz
Reply:You are probably thinking of mystic fire topaz, but there is also opal and some australian crystal that fit your description too.
Reply:Identifying a stone based on color is the worst way to approach identification, I'm afraid. It could've very well been glass or some synthetic material. Maybe some type of Fluorite or Amethyst?

How to remove this vein mark appearing on my face?

I've just noticed that some vein marks are appearing on my cheeks. Though they aren't that visible, I want them out of my face! How should I remove these? They're like violet spider webs. What things should I do to remove these? Help please

How to remove this vein mark appearing on my face?
You have two options: cosmetic or medical.

You can disguise the problem with foundation or concealer.

Perhaps try Estée Lauder Maximum Cover Makeup and Disappear Concealer gives full cover and disguises most blemishes.

Medical options are quite varied.

Vein cautery done by frazzling the vein with a hot needle, but this may cause scarring!

Veinwave - veins are targeted with soundwaves.

Find out about a dermatologists with a good reputation and investigate all the pros and cons before you have it done!
Reply:only through surgery
Reply:foundation
Reply:You need to go and consult a specialist dermatologist. In the mean time buy some concealer - there are several makes on the market. The sales people on the make-up counter will advise which ones are best for you.
Reply:You can have them removed with needles - but its dammed painful. Start treating your skin with respect to stop more appearing!
Reply:just covering with make up isnt going to resolve the problem. first of all these veins on the cheek area are mostly caused by dehydration of the skin. avoid using sunbed, sauna and steamroom till u get them looked after..the best way which is called diatharmy its cheap painless and long lasting,,,hope this helps good luck.

What does the Iodine mordant do in a gram stain?

In a gram stain what is the purpose of the iodine mordant? Is it to trap the crystal violet in the gram positive bacteria?

What does the Iodine mordant do in a gram stain?
By definition a mordant is a substance that set dyes. It doesn't really contribute to the coloring of the bacteria. The iodine in Gram stain fixes the crystal violet to the bacterial cell wall of the Gram positive bacteria.
Reply:It allows the stain to stick to the bacteria.

What type of crazy hair dye is best for African American hair types?

Would Manic Panic work? Would Special Effects work best?

I want to dye my hair blue-black. Or dark violet.

What type of crazy hair dye is best for African American hair types?
i would go like a purplish color.
Reply:NONE dye is not good for hair!
Reply:blue-black should work since you're covering it with a darker color, but as for a dark violet, im not sure since

a. violets don't stay in that well

b. It may be lighter than your natural

I'd advise you go to the blue black just to be safe.

Hope I helped =)

What is the strangest, most beautiful TRUE eye color you have ever seen?

I have heard of people having violet eyes, but it is very rare. Also, I saw this man on TV that had eyes so pale they looked mint green. I'd love to see some pictures of anyone's eyes if they have a weird color. I find this facinating.

What is the strangest, most beautiful TRUE eye color you have ever seen?
I have had two guy friends

many years apart

they both had iridescent green eyes

my sister also has green eyes but more along a pale hazel color

the guys I am talking about were both very different individuals than our cultural norm in a wide variety of ways

I know looking into ones eyes is supposed to be looking into the soul

and gazing into the black of the eye of a person is supposed to entangle you into their life for better of for worse

But I believe the iris color signifies types of people

some kind of real race different than just skin color from earth location

Blue and brown are common

violet, green and the albino pink are far more rare

and I think the people who have those colors are rare individuals also
Reply:Brown.... weird.
Reply:Crystal Blue
Reply:mine and my bf eyes are green/blue. they change colors and sometimes look really green or even grey blue. i love it.
Reply:it's depend on your way of thinking and your star are say to u ,,but no one can describe ext it ,every person have own opinion

Reply:well my favorite eyes are on a game i played one of the girls have a strange swirl and she has one green eye and one blue
Reply:my friend has bright blue eyes, like a cat, theyre sooo pretty
Reply:she had pure grey eyes, looked incredible.
Reply:The best I've seen are grey. It's pretty cool.
Reply:i would have to say pale white is blueish whitish
Reply:A baby I saw once had navy blue eyes. It was beautiful b/c they matched so well with her skin (golden-medium brown) and she had lots of dark brown curly hair. Love babies!
Reply:that'd be neat to see...the prettiest eyes i ever saw was of my neighbor who i had a crush on. her eyes had colors of blue, green, and yellow.
Reply:dark black eyes are beautiful.
Reply:A girl I work with has silver grey eyes. They are gorgeous! I mean, SILVER!
Reply:The eyes must match with the skin complexion, but I say hazel eyes on an tannish asian girl. OOO WEEE! or hispanic!
Reply:The strangest eye color that I have ever seen is my grandmothers. She has some type of birth defect, and has one green eye and one blue eye. Sorry I cannot supply a picture at this time.
Reply:i have brown and greenish eyes and sometime hazel if thats how u spell it

its really kool
Reply:My boyfriend's eyes are kind of like denim blue with golden flecks surrounding the pupil. I don't think he'd want me to put up a random picture of him on the internet though :) Mine are more turquoise aqua colored and have been described as "marbleized" by a friend of mine because they have many shades of blue flecks throughout the iris.

Does your hair ever get lighter in the summer?

My hair is naturally light brown and it always seems to turn blondish. Like a blonde. I actually like it and all but what exactly causes it?

Is it ultra violet radiation? That would be my guess.

Thanks and peace out everyone.

Does your hair ever get lighter in the summer?
Well you are right, plus if you go to the pool a lot/ you have a pool, the chlorine+sun= lighter hair! Hope this helps!

Mines goes from red/brown to red/brown/blonde. Haha
Reply:you are absolutely right.
Reply:it is called sun bleached and when i was a kid i used hydrogen peroxide in my hair it does the same thing as the sun just make sure you use more water than peroxide and don't let it stay in your hair for to long or your hair will turn greenish blonde
Reply:the sun. if you stay inside like all day your hair will get darker. so if you like your hair blonde spend most of your time oustside.
Reply:yah its the sun,it lightens ur hair my ral hair colour is black but it turns a chestnut broen int he summer:)
Reply:It's just sunlight... isn't it? Or are you looking for some exact scientific word for it?
Reply:yes UV light is what causes it
Reply:Mine goes from dark to light brown in the summer. It always does that. I wish it didn't, I like my hair dark brown.
Reply:Yes it does. I put a few in there to make it look good too. LOL

I am naturally dark brunette and right now I am a auburn red with blond highlights. Looks ok . xx Have a great Saturday !!
Reply:the sun causes it
Reply:It's the sun!

To highlight your hair naturally, squeeze a fresh lemon over your scalp and comb it through you hair before you go outside. Be careful not to get it in your eyes.

Good luck!

How do I use liquid eyeliner as eyeshadow?

I brought Almay raisin quartz liquid eyeliner (the one to play up green eyes). Has anybody used it? How do I create a thin line across the top lid? It always ends up too thick and either covers or worse almost covers the area just above the lashes where eyeshadow is visible if worn and your eyes are open, this means the line is too thick right? It looks bad. How do I make it a finer and straight line?

Also, it's such a pretty metallic shade that it really brings out my green eyes when smudged over the top lip like eyeshadow and smudged halfway along the lower lashline, this creates a really dramatic night look that I want to wear to a party. The problem is there a line where the eyeliner is worn and not worn at the crease. How can I smudge it to blend it like normal eyeshadow?

Also, has anyone tried the Almay play up green eyes eyeshadow? I brought it but don't really like it. The violet doesn't show much and the jades just look weird. How do I use it to look nice?

How do I use liquid eyeliner as eyeshadow?
I have an answer to your first question. It pretty much just takes practice. When I started using liquid eyeliner it was hard to put on and I always made it too thick so just keep practicing and stretch your eyelid while applying, if you arnt already.
Reply:Try buying a brush to use for smudging and other makeup effects. I know professional makeup brushes are hideously expensive, so go to an art store! ^^ They have great quality brushes at lower prices.

The only advice for a thin line across the top is to use a light touch and a very fine brush/applicator point, i don;t know if your eyeliner has a fine tip applicator or not, if it doesn't, get a teeny tiny brush, and don't try to put on too much, or to do the whole eyelid at once.

It took me a while to learn to do nice liquid eyeliner, it used to take me 15 mins now it only takes me 3 lol. Give me an eyeliner pencil however, and i'll just wind up looking like a racoon. %26lt;.%26lt;

Practise makes perfect!
Reply:I have an answer to 1 of your questions.Though i Must admit I've never used Almay Rainsin quartz liquid eyeliner before I find the thing to do when line is to thick is do what they do in French Manicures to get the white tip. Take a pice of paper and cut it to (very roughly) the size of your eye, then place it over the bulk of your eyelid, leaving the bit where you want the liquid to go. Then simply arrange the paper on your eyelid according to how thick you want your line to be. Afterwards just paint on the eyeliner, while stil holding the paper over your eye and you should get a reasonably good line!
Reply:Even though I have never used Almay raisin quartz eyeliner... I have used liquid eyeliner before and I have experienced the same sort of problem! So here's what you do... first off, try using a spongy smudge tip brush to smudge the liner into a finer shape or if you still don't like the results... then buy a powder eyeliner and smudge that... they have all different colors and there is even a whole brand devoted to colors of eyes and they have powder and liquid liner! I forget the name but your local Target should carry it! Or some other pharmacy!

What is the best advice for teen self mutilation?

Give the best advice possible for a teen involved in self mutilation.

Best answer will be chosen approximately in one hour.

Thanks,

Violet

What is the best advice for teen self mutilation?
It's not worth it,life is rough but you have to be driven by suffering and use it as strength, dont let it run you or ruin you, down the road you have to look at the scars and be reminded of it,better to leave that in the past and live for now, keep your head up because you're not alone
Reply:they don't need advice, they need someone to listen and take the blade out of their hand, be there at 3am when they need someone.

and every cutter/burner/self harmer is genuine this label 'emo' is a burden! people brush off others now cause they're 'emo' but noone ever asks WHY ARE THEY 'EMO'. people don't seak attention if they don't need it.
Reply:Stop following the emo movement. Seek the attention you deserve in positive ways. Self-mutilation (genuine) occurs in a very small percentage of the population and is indicative of serious mental illess. If it's real, get to a hospital immediately. If it's not, knock it off. It's not cool and you look really stupid. If you don't know what to do with yourself and must imitate something, imitate something better, like Nobel prize winners.
Reply:Tell her that you care and don't like to see her hurt herself. If it's incredibly serious (well, scratch that. It's always serious. If you're majorly concerned), then tell someone. Other than that, just leave them alone. Your admonishments and backhand comments meant to make them feel better will probably hurt them worse.
Reply:Stop yourself or just control it...don't cut too deep or too much and give it time to heal. I'm not promoting cutting - although i'm an on and off cutter - but seriously, people get cut even if its not you doing it. sometimes you have to let your emotions out - cutting is a seminonviolent way of doing this.
Reply:Live outside yourself. You get so focused on your own misery and hatred you forget that theres a world out there full of people who's lives depend on who has interacted with them that day.

Everyone on the planet has problems, everyone is ******* up, everyone sucks, everyone is ugly, everyone is messed up. No problem is so unique that only you are suffering from it.

Get out and help other people, even if its just complimenting someone on their hair. You'd be surpised what it does for them, and how good it makes you feel.
Reply:Well, Its an addiction, and Its quite hard to control urges and anything that has to deal with it.

But the best possible thing, is keep sharp objects away, (example: my parents keep all the household knives in their room)

Try and Keep yourself occupied with either anything else that intersts you, or find another psyical outlet.

I cut crass, i do pushups, i hit a punching bag...

Theres things u can do, because when it comes to self mutilation, talking doesnt always help. But Constantly stay busy, and away from anything that u may be tempted by.

Thats what ive been doing and it seems to work...i dont talk to poeple about it usually, so physical activity is the one that works the best. Its been about 6 month for me...so i hope i helped. :)

Good Luck.

What is the catalyst that has the most impact on a person relating to Seasonal Affective disorder?

I know the lack of sun, tempurature, colors and smell all play their part, but is it possibly one not getting enough Ultra-Violet Radiation?

What is the catalyst that has the most impact on a person relating to Seasonal Affective disorder?
YES! Seasonal Affective Disorder is common and very real. I live in Buffalo, New York. I should know. It is a direct result of not getting enough natural sun light. For most people it starts around late October and lasts until Spring. Because of this, one can experience mood swings, cravings for carbs, weight gain and depression. Here in Western New York, not everyone has it, but many do, and are not diagnosed with it. I was diagnosed with it several years back and I have found the following to help me: Please NOTE: Don't let anyone "snub" you and say that you merely have the "winter blahs". Find a doctor who is progressive enough to help you. SAD is a minor depression disorder. Unless it's really bad, it DOES NOT HAVE TO BE TREATED WITH PROZAC or anything of the likes. Try natural alternatives first.

1. GNC puts out an all-natural sleep aid call SLEEP NATURALLY. IT's about twenty dollars. All the ingredients are homeopathic, and help one get on a regular sleep pattern. Plus it has 5HTP in it, which is a natural mood elevator. IT's very important to regulate your body with sleep. (But not too much sleep.)

2. There is a special lamp that you can sit in front of for about an hour a day. Make sure the light you buy is made to specifically treat Seasonal Affective disorder... Any light that claims to, but is less than 10,000 lux DOES NOT WORK! Here's a good site to go to:

http://www.ncpamd.com/seasonal.htm

Shop around for the light. They can be on sale at various times.

3. Get out for a walk in the daylight for about 15-20 minutes a day. Even if it's not sunny out, you're still getting natural daylight, and it helps. Bundle up, and bite the bullet! The fresh air will do you good.

4. EAT well and exercise, exercise, exercise!

5. Pray/ meditate/ do yoga- whatever works to clear your mind.. Suzanne Deason has a video called "20-minute Stress Relief For Beginners". Try it, and stick with it. It has helped me significantly.

6. Keep your hands and mind active. IT's easy to slip into winter couch potatoe mode! Join a club; learn a new skill during the winter.

7. Tell yourself that the depression is TEMPORARY! I finid going on a warm vacation in February has really helped me. I'm always amazed at how much better I feel in the Spring!

Take action to "combat" your SAD early. Start this regiment BEFORE daylight savings hits us. My symptoms have been less and less each year since I have done this research, and have incorporated these few minor changes!

Best of Luck to anyone who has it!
Reply:I say the sun. You have stolen my avatatar.
Reply:I dont know about uv, I just think the person has a predisposition to being depressed, and it comes out more during winter.
Reply:Very possible, but I believe it's mostly due to the lack of sun.
Reply:The main factor in SAD is lack of sunlight, it is possible today to buy lights that you sit in front of and you can get the right amount of radiation to help your mood

How do I figure out which transition (n) corresponds to lines in the hydrogen spectrum?

I know the Energy of the Violet, Blue-Green, and Red Emission lines, so how do I find Nf and Ni? I know I use Bohr's Equations, but I'm not sure how to solve for both unknowns...

How do I figure out which transition (n) corresponds to lines in the hydrogen spectrum?
Let me offer you this;

I would guess this is a physics question.

How long do I use my Grow light at a time?

I've got an African Violet %26amp; an anthurium. I bought an Ott Light, advertised as natural daylight for plants. It's a 17 watt bulb, supposed to last 10,000 hours. Is there a time limit for the light to be on them, or is it supposed to be on continuously? Thanks! Good Luck %26amp; Blessings

How long do I use my Grow light at a time?
Continous until you want it to bloom. Then switch to 12 on 12 off.
Reply:Hey Debbie Y. Don't know HOWEVER, here's a true story about a grow light. Word to the wise.

About 3-4 years ago, an apt. in our bldg caught fire and was gutted because of a grow light draped dangerously near flammables. THe firemen had to break in the glass patio door just to get in. The woman's parrot died in that fire....it was very sad.

Violet Carson?

Please does anyone know where I can obtain recordings of Violet Carson playing the piano when she used to be on the radio? I have found a match on e-bay and tried various search engines. I know that she did record under the record label Columbia.

Violet Carson?
Look for a prog called "Have a Go", hosted by Wilfred Pickles. She played piano on that.

Like purple skinny jeans? I would either wear with a black hoodie i.e http://www.wetseal.com/catalog/product.j...

And with some pointy toe high heels (black)
Reply:Wear a yellow top!

Reply:Even though they are out of style if you really wanted to wear them wear it with a red top.It will draw attention to the top not the ugly pants.
Reply:Um...I think colored skinny jeans are in style. Lots of people wear them and I think they are cute. I would wear just a simple white or black tank so you pants will stick out more. That's why most people wear the bright pants-so they will stick out. Don't listen to other people. Skinny colored jeans are cute so wear them if you like them.

Reply:I LOVE colored skinny jeans. First off, great choice. And sorry to all of you who think they are out. Pick up a magazine once in a while, okay? And I think you should stick with violet's complimentary color, yellow. It would look nice. Or maybe something less noticeable to emphasize the jeans. Good luck.
Reply:Sometimes skinny jeans can be hard to match with. Try wearing knee-high boots, with a long patterned top. Good luck.
Reply:you should wear a shirt(avoid plain colored ones) that has like a picture or words on it and wear light yet bright colors for a fun, playful look. But you shouldnt try to match the shirt to the skinny jeans.

Mow the lawn without bag or with if violets?

I don't know what they are yet, but they are blue and look like violets, someone said they may be jumping jack? Anyway, before I take it to my local nursery to know for sure, does mowing the lawn without the bag just spread them more? Will using the bag help keep them from spreading?

Is this what you have?

You might be referring to Johnny Jump Ups. That name is used interchangeably for the wild violets pictured and, their cousin, the cultivated Viola. Viola are usually multicolored.

I don't know that using or not using the bag will affect the spread of Violets. If you mow off the blossom the plant can't go to seed so you're stopping the cycle in its' tracks with or without a bag on the mower.
Reply:I have used a wet-dry vacuum with devastating effect on dandilions... use the vac in high concentration areas before you mow. Get the seeds BEFORE they fall on the ground.

Neighbors thought I was crazy but I was seed free in 2 weeks.

Some seed don't last well -- crab grass %26amp; goosegrass are 98% dead their 2nd season.... if they didn't sprout the year before
Reply:Ooo - take them to the nursery! They could be a weed, or they could be something nice that has been naturalized. Violets are big spreaders, though. They have a small rhyzome at the base, so you will find a small horizontal bulb-like thing at the base, dark, heart-shaped leaves, and a five-lobed (as I recall) flower with smaller top petals and larger lower petals on long thin stems. If they are violets - cut the yard short and often - bag the cuttings. Try to con - oops, persuade - a young person to take a screwdriver and start popping those puppies out, if you do not like them. They can bloom and seed pretty close to the ground, so that is the long-term solution unless you want a yard of them.
Reply:When a flower starts making seeds, and then dies, the seeds fall to the ground. This is how they spread. Mow or cut them as soon as you see them or when they start to bloom.
Reply:Wild Violets! I have them ALL over my yard this Spring. I transplanted most into a little garden area, before mowing. I think they are adorable little flowers! ...Just not all over my yard. lol =)

I am going to dye my hair Ultra Violet Brown by Loreal tomorrow....?

Have used this dye many times over the years, but my question is this....in February i had blonde highlights put in, i'm a brunette, the blonde is still there though not as noticeable now, this is the only time i've ever had blonde in my hair. Are the blonde bits going to be damaged or go a really strange colour when i dye my hair with the purple dye? My mum (ex hairdresser from many years ago) thinks they will just take the purple a bit more than the rest. Any advice would be great thanks.

I am going to dye my hair Ultra Violet Brown by Loreal tomorrow....?
it will turn out beautiful! the strands that are lighter will have a warm plum colour that will blend perfectly..and the plus side is if your hair looks damaged..this will seal it and make it glossy and in the sunlight it will be sparkly and shimmer..go for it!
Reply:guess what i am doing the exact same thing wow i cant wait to see what it looks like on mine

You must certain won't look like a freak like that other girl said, it'll look fabulous!

I Hope This Helps You Out, Good Luck.

you'll look amazing
Reply:i think a sheer gloss, maybe slightly pinkish with gold eyeshadow.....if your goin to a party put a lot of eyeliner on, a formal/award thing put a little less eyeliner on....(dark brown eyeliner or black) oh and the smallest bit of blush
Reply:you should definitely stick to natural makeup because if you put on bright colors you will look like a clown. Plus, who would want to distract from your gorgeous dress?? To emphasize your features, you should wear pearlized eyeshadow in a light pink, brown eyeliner, mascara, blush, and maybe a light gloss. You would look stunning!

Is it alright to use a blacklight to light indoor herb garden?

I'm just setting up my indoor herb garden due to frost outdoors but I do not know if it's good to use the blacklight being ultra violet light and ultra violet can burn. I know I will receive better results with a full spectrum bulb but I don't have one yet and It's looking to be an internet order because I cannot find one in the surrounding stores.

Is it alright to use a blacklight to light indoor herb garden?
No they will not grow with a black light. Plants use red and blue light and reflect green which is why they appear green to us. A black light contains little red and blue light. Bad idea it will stunt growth. Try a natural sunlight lamp. Careful it will bleach paint and carpet. Just like sunlight. Check surrounding nurseries and your Sam's club, if you have one. I got one at Sam's for my plants for twenty dollars I believe. also check eBay. I am raising butterflies and plants indoors over winter, so if you would like to bounce ideas please let me know. You can IM me at tokyo5335@yahoo.com

Please follow this link. This is the lamp I purchased.

If you do not personally hold a memebership, maybe a friend does and you can pay them back. Seems to be a good lamp and good luck with the herbs.
Reply:NO!!! You will kill the plants...it is very important you get the right kind of lighting

Can I use semi-permanent hiar dye over blonde highlights?

I want to dye my hair dark purple/violet and have bought a semi permanent hiar dye to try it with but i have been highlighting my hair or the past few years at salons with permanent dye. The stylist hasnt used bleach on my hair when doing this as my hair is naturally dark blonde but i want to know if using semi permanent hair dye could still affect the highlighted sections of my hair permanately, leaving my hair with washed out violet colour. Any advice would be great. The brand of dye i have bought is swarzkopf (sp?) live.

Can I use semi-permanent hiar dye over blonde highlights?
semi permanats are scarry!!! the bloned will either turn black bacause its porse from being previously lifted or it will turn a lovely gray ashy color when it starts to fade. why would you dye your hair at home whan you have stlist that hopefully knows what she is doing??? if its money it may cost you more to fix what you do at home, just a thought.

Do ultra-violet lights damage computers?

In my workshop, I have ultra-violet type b lights on all the time. I have a set of unplugged computers there as well. Will the lights damage the computers?

Do ultra-violet lights damage computers?
Yes, one of the best asked questions for this month.
Reply:No. Computer cases are made of plastic, and UV light does not penetrate them. But be careful if you have a LCD monitor -- the screens of LCDs are sensitive to intense UV light. That's why you can't let direct sunlight shine on a LCD screen for too long.

Are my new fish ok together in a 10 gallon tank?

I have a new 10 gallon set up. I have 1 male betta, 1 dragon fish (violet golby or dragon eel). 2 blue gaurami, and a afrcan frog. Are they ok together they seem to be doing great. I put a little tank salt in there for the dragon. Are the other fish ok with a lil salt? Please help Im new to this but I am really excited and love my fish.

Are my new fish ok together in a 10 gallon tank?
I'd have to say no...dragon gobies prefer a brackish water set up. If he's been in fresh water, he'll need to slowly be acclimatized to a brackish set up. And, your tank is too small for him. And, the frog-especially if it's an African dwarf frog will most likely become dinner for the goby. If it's an African clawed frog, he'll probably be the menace in the tank.

http://www.whozoo.org/Anlife2001/johangu...

.
Reply:The salt can harm your frog. And if the frog is a African clawed frog it will get quite large and will end up eating your fish. If it is a african dwarf frog it should get along fine with the fish, but again the salt is NOT good for the frog. Could end up killing him. Also If it is a good idea to keep frogs in a tank with only frogs. As I said befor clawed frogs get big and will eat your fish. Dwarf frogs are hard to feed if there is much compatition for food. Hope this helps. E-mail me if you need more help.
Reply:The size tank you have is not large enough for your Goby. He can get very large. These fish also do live in Brackish water, in the wild they live in estuaries which fluctuate in salinity. It is possible to acclimate it to a more fresh water with only a little salt in the water. These are very hardy fish. They are sand sifting scavengers who love to eat algae. The only time you should have to worry about your Goby eating smaller fish is if the goby is Very hungry, and the fish is sick and/or dying. While their mouths are large, their throats are tiny. If you don't already, I would recommend having sand in the bottom of your tank as they like to bury themselves and find food sources in it. You can find all sorts of foods (live, frozen, freeze-dried) that will sink to the bottom so that they can sift through it as hey would in the wild. Also make sure you have hiding places for your goby.

One word on the gouramis, they are usually friendly, but can be territorial, and might become aggressive towards each other and the other fish if they are too cramped.
Reply:I'm not sure about the male betta and your gouramis. Both are aggressive fish and you might have trouble with that. You also want to make sure your frog is an African Dwarf Frog, not an African Clawed Frog. The latter can get quite big, and will easily consume your betta. The salt is also not good for your frog.
Reply:First of all I would get rid of the betta as well as the dragon fish. They are not a good fit for this tank. A betta normally doesn't get along with other fish they are loners. The dragon fish will become to big for the tank and may eat his tank mates. Also, what kind of african frog do you have. If his front feet are not webbed then it is an african clawed frog. I would suggest you find out since when he gets so big he too can start eating you fish.

I would keep the gaurami's and add some other fish such as community fish such as the mollie, guppies, swordtails, and so on. Make sure that you don't put more fish in than you have tank for. Rule of thumb is no more than one inch of fish for every one gallon. This will help you maintain a better bio balance and not stress out your tank causing it to crash.
Reply:For a little bit, dragonfish can grow up to 22'' and need a minimum of 29 gal. The blue gaurami need 20 gal minimum. The fish should be fine if you are using aquarium salt but 10 gal can be tricky because the slightest change can drastically effect the tank. The frog may not like the salt so keep that in mind. You are supposed to use 2 table spoons of aquarium salt for every 10 gal. The Betta should be fine as long as there is not another male. If you bought an African clawed frog they get huge! Pet stores will not tell you this because they look so cool when they are young but reach the size of bullfrogs. I would suggest setting up and cycling another tank as big as you can afford.
Reply:If you really loved your fish you would have thought about all of this before you went and shoved all of them into a tank that was too small and then went and added salt to the water not knowing it would harm the other fish in the tank. Research you fish some and you will learn more about them. You will feel better knowing that you know about you fish and your fish will benefit because you have this new knowledge of them.

How can I make my eyes appear more blue?

My eyes change colors very much, from green to gray, from blue to violet-- but I want to know how to maybe keep the blue in. I don't normally wear blue clothing, but is there some other way to do this without contacts?

How can I make my eyes appear more blue?
yeah there is! alright to really bring out the blue in your eyes and make them pop! then wear a dark brown/black mascara and some light (somewhat shimmery) eyeliner and your eyes nwill appear very blue. highlight your brow bone with a very subtle white color which will accentuate your brow bone and make your eyes appear bigger, making the blue stand out even more! good luck to ya~! %26lt;3

How i can prevent my children from the sex and violet contents a?

watch tv or movies with ur children and give ur opinion at the right time.

i suggest u should tell the truth on sex if ur children is a teenager.

How i can prevent my children from the sex and violet contents a?
i dont know
Reply:If you bought your children up and told them the things that could happen to them in life, then they will listen to you ;have confidence in them and trust.they will work it out.
Reply:you really cant stop your child from having sex all you can do is tell to use a condom now the violent stuff i dont know about that
Reply:Sell your TV.
Reply:keep them at home, do not have a TV, internet connection, or radio at home.

Better yet, move to an Amish community.

It is very hard to prevent exposure to something that is everywhere.
Reply:I would moniter everything they read or watch. That is part of parenting.
Reply:What are violet contents?

How do you PROTECT them form sex and VIOLENT contents? It depends on what medium (TV, movies, internet) they would view them on.

Some things just cannot be prevented - it is unfortunately part of life,. Violence is all around us (the wars, rapes, killings etc). The best thing to do is see that you children understand what those things are and underdtand that while it may be a part of life overall it is not something that people should accept as normal behavior.

Monitor what they watch on TV (f you TV has a V chip - activate it). Make sure they understand what they can and cannot watch (and why). The same goes for movies. You decide what they can go to the movies and see.

On the internet - make use of any parental controls you may have on your computer. Make sure oyur children understand what and why. Since you can't control what they see on someone elese computer just make sure they understand what they are seeing.
Reply:On some TV's, there are options to filter shows by rating. On all TV's there are V-CHIPS that allow you to block channels.
Reply:Don't buy a TV, the newspapers, radio, books or a computer.

It's everywhere these days. I don't know if children can be shielded from it. It's so sad that children are no longer as innocent as they were in my day.
Reply:Give them yellow tinted glasses. That will protect them from any violets.
Reply:Well there is only one 100% guaranteed way to do it, you have to lock your child in a room with no windows and never let any body in.
Reply:Depends on how old your kids are .. if they are under 8 they should be in bed by 8.30.

If they are watching TV then put a BAN on what they watch.

Easy .... just use your remote.
Reply:lock em up in a room.

they're going to see those things no matter what.

just make sure it's at the right time.

talk to them and tell them about it, so they won't ask other people later on.

What are the best outdoor plants?

I just got an apartment with my bf, and we live just north of Dallas with an east facing balcony. I'm trying to find some plants for indoor and outdoor...what are the prettiest yet something I won't kill? I'm also trying my hand at an African Violet, a mint plant, and some kind of tree my mom gave me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

What are the best outdoor plants?
azaleas, begonias, roses, morning glory vines, impatiens, jade plant, and many more do well with an eastern exposure. Facing east, plants avoid the hot afternoon sun and should do fine in pots on the balcony.

Inside you could try "cast iron or closet plant" Ficus trees, dracaenas, "dumbcane plant" swedish ivy, or even Boston Ferns.

Get a good garden book (Sunset is my favorite) and study and fuss over your plants, don't over water and you'll have lots of happy plants to enjoy.
Reply:If you're plants are only going to get morning sun then you're best to plant azaleas, rhododendrons, camellias and foliage plants like - cabbage grass, yucca's and succulents.

Where do I locate the paint code number on a 1997 Plymouth Neon Highline?

My car is the that rare blue- blue violet color that they made during that year only- now I know why- the paint color constantly peels! My roof is totally bare of paint now and the trunk is going to become that way soon if I do not find the paint code to match the color and paint the thing. I bought the car used in 2004, so there is no owner's manual to refer to and the repair manual doesn't list the paint code anywhere. If someone knows exactly where on the car it is located, I'd greatly appreciate that info.

Thanks!

Where do I locate the paint code number on a 1997 Plymouth Neon Highline?
If it is peeling paint, it is most likely Lapis Blue, and the paint code is: PC4. However, Light Iris Metallic, is more of a blue/blue violet color that you described, and it's paint code is: PC5

Lapis Blue was available from 95 to 98, however it wasn't too rare. Light Iris Metallic was available from 95 to 97 and wasn't a very common color.

To make sure, the location of your paint code will be found on the inside painted part of the driver side door, and this place only.

Good luck repainting your Neon.
Reply:Here you go..this is the perfect website for Auto Paint Code Numbers
Reply:On the side of the door panel.... I had to edit this. In the Neon, it is located under the passenger seat, not on the door panel.
Reply:Check the inside of your door, where you close it and it latches close. If that doesn't work try the sticker inside of your hood. The other thing you can do is call the service department of the dealer or show up and ask them. There is little touch up paints available at the dealer, so they will be more than happy to help you figure it out for free.
Reply:Generally two places. Look around the door inside the exterior. If not, raise the hood and check the firewall at the rear of the engine compartment. Next, last ditch effort? Call dodge and ask for the pain gone..

What can you tell them about the type of valcano thay have, the magma in the volcano, and the type of eruption

you are a volcano scientist investigating an eruption. you observe that the eruption has been going on for weeks and the lava slowly flows very far from the crater. the eruption is not very violet, and very little ash is ejected. people who live in the area want to know it there will be a massive eruption in the future.

What can you tell them about the type of valcano thay have, the magma in the volcano, and the type of eruption
No, there won't be. Basic lava flows over long distances, and erupts often, but not violently.
Reply:Mafic or basaltic volcanoes. This means in comparison to felsic volcanoes: temperature are higher (%26gt;900 degrees C), magma has less silicates, magma is rich in iron and Magnesium; pyroxenes, olivine, some amphiboles, lava flow is less viscous (flow easily), eruptions are much less explosive, lower volatile concentrations
Reply:explosive volcanoes contain a lot of hot trapped gasses. when the volcano erupts, the gasses are heated and expand, shattering the magma into dust, ashes, cinders and lumps of hot lava.

quiet volcanoes are mostly flattish and shield-like shape. some small explosions often occur when jets of molten lava shoot up from craters and fissures. they contain gas which can easily escape but there are no major explosions.

intermediate volcanoes often erupt explosively with a steady flow of lava.

in many populated areas scientists have set up observation stations around active volcanoes. they measure temperature and pressure changes inside volcanoes and record any Earth tremors. they also use tiltometers to detect any changes in the tilt of the mountain slope.

HW emergency: our art teacher required us to express a colour wheel creatively? I need some colour names too?

I know that red and green make brown, but what about:

Blue and orange?

Yellow and Violet?

HW emergency: our art teacher required us to express a colour wheel creatively? I need some colour names too?
Remember the base for your wheel should contain the primary colors in a circle with spaces between them.

(Blue, red, yellow) If you know that green and red make brown, then you should know to first make green from blue and yellow.

Blue and Red make Purple.

Yellow and Red make Orange.

Yellow and Blue make Green.

After these colors are formed:

White added to these colors Make:

Blue + white = light blue

Red + white = pink

Light blue + pink = Lavender (extra blue Lavender blue)

Two parts yellow and one part blue = Lime Green.

Pink and Yellow = peach

Two parts pink + one part yellow = flesh.
Reply:You just listed the complimentary colors. They all lie opposite each other on the wheel and do make brown when mixed.

Great start. 99% of all advertisements use at least one of the combos you listed. The eye goes crazy when it sees such a blend.

Hope this helps in some way. Good luck!

Can I use Clairol complements color intensifier with other permanent hair color brands?

I just bought Clairol complements color intensifier in Red and Purple. I also bought L'oreal Preference permanent color in MR8 (medium intense deep auburn). I was told at Sally's Beauty Supply that it would be ok to use the color intensifier with the Loreal color that I bought. Is this correct? Does the intensifier only work with the other complements line? I want a violet red and wanted to mix a little of both in with the main color. If it will work, does anyone have a recommendation on how much to put of each color, or will I just need to try some mixes on a stand test? Can I even mix the red and purple together? One more thing, I have a lighter Medium brown hair, is a 20 vol developer high enough? It was last colored red in July. I have colored my hair before but it is never very intense would a 30 vol make it more noticeable? Thanks for any help. And sorry so many questions at once.

Can I use Clairol complements color intensifier with other permanent hair color brands?
While the manufacturer will say no to your question, some brands can mix okay together. Your idea of the strand test is the way to go. What is your goal with your hair? More red or more violet? That will tell you which color you should add more of. When adding the "purple" use only a few drops at a time. Going to a higher volume will NOT help this be more intense for very long. It will fade VERY quickly. If you are wanting a more artificial and shocking color then I would not use this type of color. You should prelighten and then use a brand such as Cellophanes or Manic Panic. So to go over what you need to do again: Decide level and intensity of color. Do several strand tests to see outcome. Possibly prelighten for more intense color. If you went to a salon that works with Wella Kolestan they have beautiful double pigmented reds, red-violets, violets and violet reds that are very long lasting. Best of luck.
