If light and sound are energy waves, are they the same energy but on different wavelengths?

We see light energy waves with our eyes, and hear sound energy waves with our ears.

Light can be broken down into different wavelengths meaning we see different colours and can also be broken down into ultra violet and infra red; sound can be different wavelengths making different sounds and pitches.

They are both energy waves.

Are they the same energy broken down into different wavelengths resulting in us seeing that energy as light and sound?

If light and sound are energy waves, are they the same energy but on different wavelengths?
wrong.

sound waves are not electromagnetic waves. they can't be broken down into anything, unlight light waves.
Reply:Sound is a longitudinal mechanical wave that must have a medium to travel through. Light is an electromagnetic wave (they're all transverse). It requires no medium. They are both different and we use different equations to describe them.
Reply:All types of waves can carry energy, even water waves. So there really isn't a distinction between "energy waves" (too vague a term) and some other sort.

Light is the same sort of wave as radio, x-rays, microwaves and all other electromagnetic waves. The only difference between them is their wavelength.

Sound is an entirely different mechanism. It's basically just particles bumping into their neighbors and those neighbors bumping into their neighbors and so on down the line. This is vastly different from electromagnetic waves, which are a combination of oscillating electric and magnetic fields.
Reply:The concept of "energy wave" is meaningless in this comparison. Not that the term is inacurate, but light and sound are so different that comparing them just because they both involve some form of energy leads to no useful conclusion or insight. Like comparing a goose to a table because both are made of atoms. Sound is moving air. Vibration of air occurs in different frequencies, resulting in different information being interpreted by ears and brains. Light is not moving air. It has frequency characteristics, that's true. But light and sound are not the same kind of energy.
Reply:light is perception not energy. the blind have no concept of light, they dream sounds.
Reply:NO!!! sound is not an energy wave at all!!!

it is a mechanical kenitic energy that travels in a wave like manner through air or other mediums that we perceive as a sound.

light on the other hand travels as electromagnetic waves that travels in the form of photons.

evidence: light can travel through a vacuum, sound cant

: light travels umbelivably fast, sound is pretty darn slow
