The white stuff is cotton-y, almost web-like. I think they're bugs. So far I have removed it with cotton swabs and tissues, but it's back again. Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it permanently. I have raised African Violets for over 10 years and I've never seen this before. Also, currently I have 3 right next to each other and only one plant has this.
My african violet has some strange white stuff on it.?
Are all three plants in the same kind of pots? I had the same problem and from what you are describing I think you may have the same problem, the guy at the store told me that it is a kind if mold that grows because water stagnates.
Not much of a green thumb but I think we had the same problem.
Reply:They are most likely mealy bugs.Go to ask.com and ask what to use to get rid of them.Good Luck
Reply:Could also be mildew?
Reply:Well my mom has them and spyders love them too.i would say spyder webs.
Reply:this is a bug, i can't remember the name
dab a q-tip in alcohol and wipe the plant
as soon as you touch it you will see the bug
turn beige/tan colored, try to stay on top of
this before it gets on any others, isolate the
affected plants, this bug sometimes gets in
the roots
