I just received an african violet, and want to keep it in my office. I have a very bright office, and a little natural sunlight from a skylight from a distance. Will my african violet survive in these conditions. I have one at home, and I know that it isn't doing well due to inadeqaute light. I know all of the rules for growing violets as I have read every book around. It isn't clear though if they will survive in an office.
Can African Violets grow in an office?
I have seen African violets do very well under fluorescent lights and they will also thrive in bright natural light. I would keep it in a northern or eastern exposure or a few feet from a window that has western or southern light. If you have artificial only you usually have to have it close to the light source to get flowers. You already know what low light looks like from the one at home, and if you are giving it sunlight and it does poorly, then you'll know it needs less light. Good luck.
Reply:I have a friend who works in a office that doesn't have windows...her Africa violets are going fabulously. So, yes.
