If you stand in water with your head and face out of the water your face burns but you don't get a tan on your body. This indicates that UV is NOT transmitted, but absorbed by the water. If water transmitted UV your body would get tanned.
Does water transmit or absorb ultra violet light?
It transmits it or intensifies it's effect. Such as if your in water you are apt to burn faster.
