HELP! My African Violet Never blooms.?

Everytime I get an African Violet, it only has the blooms that were on it when I bought it, and then the violet never blooms again. Once I had a Violet for 2 years %26amp; it never bloomed (so I threw it out). Now I have the special Violet pot (that comes in 2 parts were the outer one hold all of the water) and I have it placed in front of a window @ work that receives a lot of sunlight. Help! What am I doing wrong?!

Your plant needs at least 1 possibly 2 more of the same plant in order for it to acquire cross polination to get the blooms you are looking for. It takes cross polination in order that both or more plants can flower. It's the same with planting corn in a garden You need to plant at least 4 rows or more so you get polinization in order for ears to develpe on the corn plants
Reply:African violets are more dependent on regular care than most other house plants. They "sulk" quite obviously when they are dry or cold. The plants flower best in bright light, but not in extreme heat and humidity. They bloom well in east or west windows or under fluorescent lights. The preferred daytime temperature is 72 degrees F. Night temperatures should not fall below 62 degrees F.



African violets are extremely sensitive to dryness, so it is wise to check the soil moisture daily. Water when the soil feels dry to the touch, but before it becomes hard. Never apply cold water to African violets. It can cause irregular-shaped, white-colored spots to form on the foliage. Use lukewarm water or fill your watering can after each watering and let it sit, so you will have room-temperature water on hand.

Reply:You can buy a certain fertilizer for it. MiracleGrow actually has one for African Violets specifically.
