i did a leaf cutting for a school proj. what are some signs that show it is growing?
I'm propagating an african violet....?
How long ago did you do the cutting? Basically, if you took the cutting over a week ago and it is still green then it should be growing. Otherwise it would have turned brown and died. It takes quite some time for you to actually see any real growth with African violets. Eventually, a new plant will pop up at the base of the cutting. If your cutting is about 4 to 6 weeks old, I would get some African violet fertilizer for it. As soon as I put the fertilizer on mine, my plant popped out of the soil. Make sure that you don't over fertilize it though. Read the directions on the back of the fertilizer and only use it at about 1/2 strength. Fertilize about every 3-4 weeks to begin with. Hope this helps.
Reply:Did you use the hormone rooting powder as that helps, but you will see the stem start to grow from the leaf. You can't wet the leaves they don't like it, but you can brush them when they grow a bit and get dusty....hope that helps.
