My dog looks sick - he keeps panting, tongue is dark violet-ish and hanging on the side...pls help!?

He's been like this for 2 days now and i'm told he can still get himself up and walk around but when he approaches his meal he can't seem to pick up his food and bite most likely because of his tongue.. can somebody tell me what may be going on and the possible treatments for this... I'm not in direct contact with him now since I'm out of the country.. please help...

Tell the person who is taking care of him to take him to an emergency pet hospital (they are open all night) and that you will pay the person back when you get back into the country. That sounds serious and I hope your baby is going to be ok!
Reply:for 2 days!!! and who ever is caring for him hasn't taken him to the vet! OMG....

panting is a sign of pain or distress and serious problems. You should be making a call to send him off for real help !! and get the heck off the internet and do it now.
Reply:tell the person who ia in charge of him in your absence to take him to the vet immediately, if instant action is not taken, you could lose your dog
Reply:VET, VET, VET....We just had to put a chow down that had a cancerous tumor on his tongue. The cancer spread all through his body. Also, in many dogs, if they have worms severe enough, it can cause the tongue to lose the pink coloring because the blood supply is being infested. Please just tell them to get you baby to a vet.
Reply:Well I had a chicken and her comb and face began to turn purple. Two to Four days later the couldn't even pick her head up. She was taken to the vet and the probem was her circulation was very bad and not enough blood was getting to her body parts.



I suggest you ask someone to call the vet or take him for you. It could be something very serious.

Reply:When my poodle did that, she was going into congestive heart failure. Your dog needs to be seen as soon as possible before it's too late.
Reply:What kind of dog do you have... Chinese Crested have tongues sticking out cus they dont have teeth to hold them.... Also the tongue might be darkish cus it's part chow,



Tell whoever is taking care of you're dog to bring him to the vet... It sounds serious... I wouldn't take any chances..
Reply:omg!!!!! i am soooo sorry!!! fisrt i would suggest giving him some water in a bowl, if he doesn't lick it try a sponge, if hes drinking just noot eating give him a day a or so, make sure!!!! hes cool, and comfortable, if he eats and seems hungry give him kibble and water and mix it so its mushy like oatmeal after one day or so and the is no!!! sign of improvment take him to a vet right away!!!!! be sure to tell me how it works out!!!!
Reply:You should tell the useless one who is caring ( supposedly ) for your dog for you, that he needs to be going to the vet.. Pronto! Who knows what's wrong, but it sure doesnt sound good at all.. Who knows the treatment, cause he hasn't been properly diagnosed at all.. Who in their right mind would allow this to go on for 2 days without seeing the vet.. Yeah I can see noticing a problem, and then watching him for a few hours but if this was ongoing for more than a few hours.. I would be at the vet, needing to know why my poor dog was acting like this.. It sounds like he might be having a reaction to something, but only the vet can tell you for sure.. Get a new babysitter, and get him to take the poor dog to the vet before he dies..
