I re-potted my African Violet into a bigger pot a week ago and it's been droopy ever since. I can't get it to perk back up. Any ideas?
Re-potted African Violet Question?
try giving it a soak of 10-52-10 or 10-60-10 fertilizer from the bottom. let sit for 30 minutes, then drain completely. allow to dry completely before soaking again. this shoud get your african violet out of the shock of being repotted. continuing this drying out %26amp; soaking with this fertilizer should cause continuing bloom
Reply:I so totally recommend African Violet pots. My AV's were always tempermental when I had them in regular pots. AV pots are ceramic and the actual flowerpot sits in a reservoir that holds water. This keeps the plant perfectly moist without getting water on the leaves because you always add water to the bottom part and not actually on the plant. It soaks the water up through its' own pot. My violets are doing terrific now. Sometimes it takes a week or so after re-potting for them to recover from transplant shock.
Reply:What are you doing to perk it up.
If it has the same conditions as usual it should come right once its roots settle in.
Don't give it any extra water or food .
Just keep it in the usual place if it was doing well there and leave it alone.
If you have overwatered or overfed it you may need to rectify that.
When you repot plants try not to disturb the roots too much-keep some of the original rootball and soil intact.
Only pot one size up and only if the plant has out grown its pot.
Make sure you firm the soil around the roots so there are not big airpockets.
African violets like the right conditions and aren't easy if you get that wrong.
Good luck.
