There's a star in the night sky that shines red and violet what's it named?

It's supposed to be emitting only one colour. But,it's emitting 2 simultaneously.

There's a star in the night sky that shines red and violet what's it named?
The purple may be the effects of atmospheric distortion. Among the brightest red stars in the sky are Arcturus (in Bootes), Aldebaran (in Taurus), Betelgeuse (in Orion), and Antares (in Scorpius): if it is not the planet Mars, it is likely to be one of these four.

3rd brightest (?0.04 var) α Boo Arcturus 37 light years away

9th brightest (0.58 var) α Ori Betelgeuse 430 light years away

13th brightest (0.85 var) α Tau Aldebaran 65 light years away

16th brightest (1.09) α Sco Antares 600 light years away

The three beginning with the letter A are the brightest stars in their own constellations, and assuming you can find the constellation okay, the brightest star within it will be fairly obvious. Betelgeuse is Orion's right shoulder but not quite as bright as the star at Orion's left foot.

So track these "usual suspects" in the sky and work out which one you must have been looking at.
Reply:I think they are called red giants?

If thats what your asking. Im not sure if you asking for the name of the star or?
