what can i do to save violet if it had been freezed?
Last night it was really cold and i forgot to move it away from the window, so at the morning its flowers turned a little brown and leaves became dark on the edge. I think it is going to die because almost all leaves became dark on the edge. Please help! What should I do?
African violet?
Your African violet that sustained extreme chilling ---
put it in a warmer spot,
put a fluorescent light 12" above it on 24 hrs a day,
see if any new growth starts.
remove parts that feel like cooked spinach.
keep it on the dry side while it recovers.
you will see results within a month if it is going to survive.
I grew them commercially, my aunt has some that are 45 yrs old...
Reply:move it away from the cold area. any damage done is done. get a full spectrum lamp, flourescent bulbs have too narrow of a bandwidth to do any good for plant life. darkness on the edge implies too much water. water it once a week.
