Gentian violet for thrush?

I just asked a question awhile ago about my sons thrush. A lot of people recommend Gentian violet. From what I have been reading it's not a prescription? my son is formula fed not breastfed. Is this violet stuff only for babies who are breastfed? He was on nystatin for a month and it doesn't work. What are your experiences between the two medicines which is better. Thanks for your help!

Gentian violet for thrush?
Doesn't matter if breast or formula fed. It worked for me in one day after trying nystatin. It does die your clothe and skin for a few days though., so don't put cute clothes on baby while doing this. You can get it over the counter at walgreens or cvs. Just ask the pharmacist.!
Reply:GV is suitable for anyone, no matter the age or how they're fed. Nystatin is absolute crap, and if more doctors truly knew anything about thrush, they'd never prescribe it. The high sugar content in the Nystatin is delicious FOOD the yeast thrive on, making its failure rate over 50%! I'd definitely go with the GV, which is available at health food stores, and some pharmacies. You can also try Grapefruit Seed Extract. It's amazing stuff!! I'll attach a link on thrush for you. Feel free to email me with any questions, ok?
Reply:gentian violet is for all babies formula or breast fed and no it is not a prescription you can find it from what I understand in the health food aisles. My youngest has been on both and neither helps. :( she's had thrush for about 3 months now
