I am thinking of going to the dentist to get my teeth whitened by the ultra violet light they use these days..has anyone had it done? If so, how did it go? was it worth it? is it safe?
Thanks
Ultra violet light teeth whitening, what are the pro's and con's ?
I had it done recently and was very happy with it. My dentist told me it should not be done more than 2 or 3 times in your lifetime, but it is safe to do those times. It can make your teeth "pop"...it just feels like they are popping, and some feel it, some don't. I had that very mildly while I was under the lights. My husband never experienced that at all. I was very happy with the whitewning level. They also made trays and gave me some whitening bleach to use at home. This got them even whiter. If you drink coffee, colas, teas, smoke cigarettes, expect the whiteness to not last as long. Make sure you don't eat or drink for a few hours after you have it done. Ask your dentist a lot of questions about it, including the price. MOST places will go down on the price if you ask them. Ask if they have any specials on it. Or go to a different dentist. If they are using the "ZOOM" system, it should all be the same. It's a little uncomfortable when they're getting you set up, but not unbearable at all.
Oh, also...I read this today...very interesting...could be a natural way to keep them whiter after you have the Zoom done..
Did you know that strawberries have a natural ability to
remove stains such as coffee and tea from the teeth? If
you want to freshen your breath, clean your teeth, and fade
the stains, Mash a few strawberries, smear them on the teeth,
and gently brush with a soft toothbrush or your fingers...
Reply:if you prefer whiting ok but most teeth perfectly look ok not brittle with plaque colored showing white unprotects the enamel use lemon or to un whiten yet clean use backing soda
Reply:HELLO,
PROS=A BRITE SMILE
CONS=SENSITIVITY TO COLD, THIS USUALLY DOESN'T LAST LONG AS IS NOT PERMANENT.
Reply:the light is a 100% hoax. boy it sure looks like it's doing something though. it's been proven now that all the light does is heat the teeth up about 3 degrees. the whitening is only due to the chemicals.
yes it's safe and yes it's worth it!
Reply:Pros: Instant result
Cons: unknown long term effect on teeth, sensitivity afterwards, unnatural white colour
