I've been wanting to dye my hair violet for some time now and any advice on products and steps are appreciated. My main outlet for any color would be from Sallys, I have thick and wavy hair, and I already have 2 bottles of Clairols Complements in violet (sale so I couldn't pass it up) and I have reddish roots and dark brown hair thats shoulder length. Dying hair violet (bleaching necessary) advice?
Since you already know you have to bleach your hair I'd advise don't do it yourself, go get it done because you can majorly f*** up your hair. From what I've noticed if you wan't your hair a nice Violet use Special Effects Joyride or Special Effects Purple Smoke, if your Sallys is a pain in the a** like mine and doesen't sell Special Effects then you could most likely find it at Hot Topic, or you can use Manic Panic Ultra Violet mixed with a little bit of the Virgin Snow.But my all time favorite is the Punky Violet, the color is gorgeous!
Reply:I died my bangs red-violet and they turned out nice. I went to a hair coloriest though. All I can say is read the instructions on the box. One time I used the boxes color and then a month later went to the colorist and they reacted. So, you might want to be carful if you mix or use two different kinds. Hope this helps in any way
