Which will give wider spaced fringers in a double slit experiment, red or violet light?

I don't know, but I think this way:

Violet is higher frequency, therefore there are more wavecrests in a given length. Since the fringes are made by wavecrest interference, the more wavecrests the more fringes on the screen. So red would be wider spacing.

Although violet would scatter more in the air, in doesn't matter much because you can do the split experiment in a vacuum. I think of it like this: there is only one "scattering" at the edge of the slits (diffusion), so all the other scattering from the air is minor.

i'd go with violet simply because its scattering ability is more than that of red
