Hello, I m using gentian violet on my newborn and on my wife for yeast issues on the breast?
Yep. It stains and looks horrible. But it works!!
For us it seemed like time just needed to pass for it to fade. On my hands I tried using alcohol %26amp; nail polish remover, even diluted bleach... heck bleach didn't get it out of my nursing bras either!
From our last application, it was days until it faded... we just made no plans for pictures, and if anyone asked - we told them the truth!
Reply:It wears off after oh, about a week or two if I recall.
And don't let him drool on the nice sheets...
I had purple boobies and he had a purple face for awhile, it seemed. Alot of his little itty bitty clothes are stained purple around the neck... It works very well, but it simply has to wear off with time. And the insides of his lips are going to be that intense bright color for days. Take lots of pictures.
Reply:If yuo are not touching it now you will notice that as the days go by the purple will fade. Just wash gently when he is in the bath. Dont panic about it though it fades
Reply:You just have to let it fade. knowing moms will understand and give you a nod of support!-)
To avoid the spread, use the lanolin cream they sell for nipples and put it on and around his lips before the gentian violet and also along the edges of the areola and it will wipe off easier.
You may want to try grapefruitseed extract too for the thrush.
Reply:Just wait it out. In about 2 days it will look much better. I had to use it several times on my little guy when he was young and nursing. There's really nothing safe to get it out with. You just have to let it go away on its own.
