Why does the color violet at the far end of the blue spectrum look like it has red in it.?

We see color through red, green and blue filters on the cones of our eyes do the red cones let through some of the deep blue color to create the redish tint of violet?

Vilet is made by 2 parts of red + one part of blue
Reply:Violet is made up of blue and red.
Reply:that is more of an art question than anything else...violet is blue and red it just emits the largest frequency on the electromagnetic spectrum when compared to other colors (about 10^20 Hz).
