When i want a dull yellow i mixe it whith violet but what should i do for a dark yellow?

When i want a dull yellow i mixe it whith violet but what should i do for a dark yellow?
add brown to yellow or green but be careful on the quantity
Reply:For a dark yellow, go to your paintbox, pull out Yellow Ochre or Raw Sienna, decide which is closest to the color you desire, and adjust from there. Otherwise you'll waste an unnecessary amount of your (more expensive) brighter yellow trying to darken it.

Reply:Have you ever heard of tints and shades. To make a tint of a color, you add white. To make a shade of a color you add black. You can also add the colors complement to it, and in the case of yellow, the complement is violet. Dark yellow to me would almost be green....GOOD LUCK....!
