If It is my Mother I fell we have the right to know what the truth is just like anyone else does. Any HELP would be of great use. I have checked Ancestry.com and the Genealogy site and come up with a little but can't find anything on her Father or where she was born for sure.

From the looks of this Edith MAIDEN name is Irwin That means Violet Marie Irwin was born out of wedlock! Violets father may very well be UNKNOWN!

I find it interesting that Edith is listed as a man/son-in law on the 1930 census and as Violet's "Father". The census taker may have only spoke to the head of house hold and not met the people he listed on the Census! There may have been a lie told to keep from having an "OFFICIAL" record of Edith having a child out of wedlock.

I wonder if maybe Edith worked for the Och's, It would not be the first time a house hold servent became "with child" by the man of the house! And also how did Edith end up in Missouri? Could it be she was sent there by her family? Could the Ochs be related in some way to the Irwin's. I don't think that the Ochs are old enough to have a son old enought to marrie Edith and if they had both Edith's and Violets last name would be Ochs and not Irwin on the 1930 census!

I am thinking that Edith either changed her name to "Larsen" or married a "Larsen" and changed Edith's name. Back in the 1930's if you wanted to change your name you just moved to another town and started using another name.

I also found this but it is unsourced:

Death: 30 Sep 1992 - Smithfield, Illinois, USA

Marriage: 11 Jun 1930 - Nevada, Missouri, USA

Spouse: Charles Erwin Wust

Reply:This certainly helps you understand why the old timers here always urge persons to find documentation, even about what you believe you "know".

1929 seems way way back to us now, but in fact, these are still often living persons. Thus, some of the info will be confidential. And, clearly, it is still an emotional issue for the Uncle. Things that don't bother us in the least, today, were scandals, family feuds and secrets to be kept.

Tread lightly with the immediate relatives, and use what you can. The census is obviously one of those things, marriage records will be another. SOME localities will have birth indexes, although that won't be the certificate itself.

I worked a friend's line, where "dad" was a railroad man who died. After digging, I found several records showing mom with her maiden (father's) name, well after baby was born, as well as her marriage record (again, maiden name) a few years later. It was clear that railroad man was a convenience. I tactfully wrote in the report that I was just "unable" to find the marriage record. I wasn't blatant about the reality that there was no marriage to be found.

I agree you have the right to facts, but I would still bake Uncle a cake and confine chats with him to baseball or something else.

check out this link.. at the bottom of the page there is a name of who submitted hte info u can always contact them and see if they know anything else
Reply:The innocent child (your mother) may have been a product of rape or incest, and the other family members don't care to have you know what went on (stirring up trouble for the family).
Reply:Lots of name changes for different reasons; sound like a skeleton in your family's closet.

Have you heard of the ethnic fellow(no racist jokes here!) who couldn't afford a personalized number plate(license plate) for his car, so he changed his name by deed poll to FSQ289.
