How do you grow luxurious violets?

I won a small violet as a door-prize at a baby shower on Saturday, and I really don't know much about them.



Anyone have any tips so that my baby violet will flourish? How much sun, water, what kind of fertilizer and food, etc...

How do you grow luxurious violets?
You may need to re-pot it using "Violet potting soil." This has a bunch of nutrients, including a bit of fertilizer. The most important thing is to not water it too much.



Water ONLY when it looks like its dying of of dryness!!!! Press your finger gently into the soil. If it comes backs with absolutely no soil particles, its ok to give it a little water.



Yeah, this goes against what you will feel like doing -- giving it lots of TLC, but if you water it everyday, you *will* kill it!!! It is possible to kill it with kindness.
